○怡顔斎が言うには、花形は桐谷に似て八重である。鬱金色で花弁にしわがある。黄桜とも言う。樺茶色である。俗に間違って浅黄桜と混同する。浅黄ではない。

○Igan-sai says: The flower form resembles Kiritani and is double-flowered. It is turmeric-colored with wrinkled petals. It is also called Ki-zakura (Yellow Cherry). It is birch-tea colored. Commonly and mistakenly confused with Asagi-zakura. It is not light yellow.

○Igan-sai says: It is called the white birch tree. Its bark is dried and used as torches. The fire does not go out even in rain. Dishonest merchants use this smoke to fumigate new paintings to make them resemble old paintings. This is recorded in the Bencao Gangmu (Compendium of Materia Medica).
