望（のそみ）しかば何（なに）なりと替（かへ）ものせんといひければ
左（さ）あらば秘蔵（ひそう）の桜一 株（ちう）と替（かへ）なんと約（やく）し
既（すで）に送（をく）る日 木主（きぬし）名残（なごり）をおしみ王照君（わうせうくん）
胡国（ここく）へ送られし事をおもひ出て即此
名（な）を付（つけ）てつかはしけるとぞ

○怡顔斎曰 千弁（せんよう）にして
紅色（いろあかく）香気（かうき）馥郁（はなはだ）あり
小輪にして花 疎（まばら）に貼（つく）也
此香気なきもの緋（ひ）桜也
能（よく）にたるもの也
現代語訳
望んだところ、何なりと交換するものがあると言ったので、それならば秘蔵の桜一株と交換しようと約束した。
既に送る日になって、木の持ち主は名残を惜しみ、王昭君が胡国へ送られた故事を思い出して、すぐにこの名を付けて送ったということである。
香桜（においざくら）

○怡顔斎曰く、千弁で紅色、香気が非常に強い。
小輪で花はまばらに付く。
この香気のないものは緋桜である。
よく似たものである。
英語訳
When he expressed his desire, the owner said he would exchange it for anything, so they agreed to exchange it for one precious cherry tree.
When the day came to send it, the tree owner felt reluctant to part with it and, remembering the story of Wang Zhaojun being sent to the barbarian lands, immediately gave it this name and sent it.

○Igensei says: It has thousands of petals and is red in color, with an extremely strong fragrance.
The flowers are small and sparsely attached.
Those without this fragrance are hi-zakura (scarlet cherry).
They are very similar.
