花 重弁（やゑの）紅梅（かうばい）に似て甚 紅（あか）し葉（は）も樹（き）も
皮も全（まつたく）桜に異（ことなる）事なし此 種（しゆ）東山 泉涌寺（せんゆうじ）
悲田院（ひでんゐん）に有然れども花 《振り仮名：未＿レ貼｜いまだつかず》是 暖国（だんこく）の
木京地の寒（さむ）き地へ移（うつ）したる故木 長（ちやう）ぜ
ざるもの也京師の緋桜とは別種なり

現代語訳
花は八重で紅梅に似ており、とても紅い。葉も樹も樹皮も、全く桜と異なることはない。この種類は東山の泉涌寺悲田院にあるが、しかし花はまだついていない。これは暖かい国の木を京都の寒い土地へ移植したためで、木が成長しないものである。京師の緋桜とは別の種類である。
私は悲田院に行って実際に見た。

英語訳
The flowers are double-petaled, resembling red plum blossoms, and are very red in color. The leaves, tree, and bark are no different from cherry trees at all. This variety exists at Hidenin in Sennyūji Temple on Higashiyama, but the flowers have not yet bloomed. This is because it is a tree from a warm country that has been transplanted to the cold soil of Kyoto, so the tree does not grow well. It is a different variety from the hi-zakura of the capital.
I went to Hidenin and witnessed this with my own eyes.
