○鈍永が言うには「大提灯に似て、蕊が長い。重なりが厚く、萼は薄紅色。茎は短く、花はなでしこのように切れ込みがある。故にこの名が付けられた。最も八重咲きである」。

○ Donnei says: "It resembles a large lantern, with long stamens. The layering is thick, and the calyx is pale pink. The stem is short, and the flower has notched edges like a pink (nadeshiko). Hence this name was given. It is most notably double-flowered."
