鳳来寺（ほうらいじ）

○鈍永曰重弁にして色
薄紅也 弁（はなびら）広（ひろ）し大輪
茎ほそく長し此寺 参（さん）
州（しう）に有此所より出たる木（き）歟（か）
又 宝来寺（ほうらいじ）に作（つく）る

塩竈（しほがま）
【挿絵】
○怡顔斎曰 重弁（やゑ）にて
花と葉（は）と雑（まじ）り出るなり
小輪にして花形しぼみ
たるごとし花弁に皺（しは）
ある故しぼみたるやうに
見ゆ牡丹（ぼたん）の遠山（とをやま）といふ
ものに同花少し垂（たる）る也

現代語訳

鳳来寺（ほうらいじ）
【挿絵】
○鈍永が言うには「八重咲きで色は薄紅色である。花弁は広く大輪である。茎は細く長い。この寺は三河国にある。この場所から出た木であろうか。また宝来寺と書くこともある」。

塩竈（しおがま）
【挿絵】
○怡顔斎が言うには「八重咲きで、花と葉が混じって出てくる。小輪で花の形がしぼんだようである。花弁にしわがあるため、しぼんだように見える。牡丹の遠山というものと同じである。花は少し垂れ下がる」。

英語訳

Hōraiji

○ Donnei says: "It is double-flowered with a pale pink color. The petals are broad and large. The stem is thin and long. This temple is located in Mikawa Province. Is it perhaps a tree that originated from this place? It is also written as Hōraiji."

Shiogama
[Illustration]
○ Igan-sai says: "It is double-flowered, with flowers and leaves appearing mixed together. It has small blooms and the flower shape appears as if withered. Because the petals have wrinkles, they appear withered. It is the same as what is called 'Tōyama' among peonies. The flowers droop slightly."
