○怡顔斎又曰活所の説（せつ）誤（あやま）り也此花 開（ひらく）
事尤 早（はや）し彼岸（ひがん）糸桜に次（つぐ）桐谷よりも
早く或人云伊勢といへるは赤（あか）きの義也
宇治（うぢ）頼政（よりまさ）の諷（うたひ）にも
伊勢武者（いせむしや）は皆（みな）緋（ひ）おどしの鎧（よろひ）きて
宇治のあじろにかゝりけるかな
此 縁（ゑん）也といへり是又 附会（ふくはい）卑俗（ひぞく）の説（せつ）なり
按（あんずる）に摂州（せつしう）伊勢寺（いせでら）は往古（むかし）伊勢（いせ）か栖（すみ）にし
庭（には）に植（うへ）し種（たね）也

よそのちりなん後にさかまし
現代語訳
○怡顔斎がまた言うには「活所の説は間違いである。この花が開くのは最も早く、彼岸糸桜に次いで早く、桐谷桜よりも早い。ある人が言うには、伊勢というのは赤いという意味である」。
宇治の頼政の謡にも
伊勢武者は皆緋威しの鎧を着て
宇治の網代にかかったことよ
「これが由来である」と言った。これもまた牽強付会で卑俗な説である。
考えるに、摂津国の伊勢寺は昔、伊勢が住んだ庭に植えた種である。

他所の散った後に咲くだろう
英語訳
○ Igan-sai further says: "Kassho's explanation is mistaken. This flower blooms earliest, second only to the Higan-ito cherry and earlier than the Kiritani cherry. Someone says that 'Ise' means red."
In Uji no Yorimasa's chant as well:
The Ise warriors all wore scarlet-laced armor
And were caught at Uji's fish weirs
"This is the origin," he said. This too is a forced interpretation and vulgar explanation.
Upon consideration, Ise-dera temple in Settsu Province has cherry trees grown from seeds planted in the garden where Ise once lived.
