他邑（たゆう）に種（たね）ありそれを接（つぎ）て又 蘩茂（はんも）【注①】す
芸州（けいしう）広島（ひろしま）にも有 播州（ばんしう）明石（あかし）にもありて
是を其辺（そのへん）て不断（ふだん）桜と名く皆一物
なり其花形 彼岸（ひがん）及ひ婆（うば）桜に似（に）たり
花 叢（むらがり）生（しやう）ず上元（じやうげん）前后（ぜんご）にかならず花 開（ひらく）
四時（しいじ）不断（たへず）故に土人（ごじん）【注②】不断桜とよぶ按に

現代語訳
他の土地に種があり、それを接木してまた繁茂する。
芸州広島にもあり、播州明石にもあって、
そこではそれを不断桜と名付けている。皆同じものである。
その花の形は彼岸桜および姥桜に似ている。
花は群がって咲く。正月前後に必ず花が開く。
四季を通じて絶えることがないので、土地の人々は不断桜と呼ぶ。考えてみるに、
これはすなわち宋の陸游の『老学庵筆記』にいう所の
小桃紅である。鳳仙花と名前は同じだが異なる植物である。

の文集にはみな小桃の詩がある。欧陽脩
の詩に言う：
雪の中に花開けども人未だ識らず 摘み来たりて相顧みて共に
驚き疑う 便ち須らく酒を求めて花前に酔うべし 初めて見る今

英語訳
Seeds exist in other regions, and by grafting them, they flourish again.
They are also found in Geishū Hiroshima and Banshū Akashi,
where the locals call them Fudan-zakura (Perpetual Cherry). They are all the same plant.
Their flower shape resembles that of Higan cherry and Uba cherry.
The flowers bloom in clusters. They invariably bloom around New Year.
Since they bloom continuously throughout the four seasons, the local people call them Fudan-zakura. Upon examination,
this is precisely what is referred to as
Shōtōkō (Small Peach Red) in Song dynasty Lu You's "Record of Old Learning Studio."
Though it shares the same name as the balsam flower, it is a different plant.
Kumagaya cherry is also of this type. Ouyang Xiu's
collected works all contain poems about small peach blossoms. Ouyang Xiu's
poem says:
Flowers bloom in snow but people do not yet recognize them Plucking them and looking at each other, we together
marvel and wonder One should seek wine and get drunk before the flowers First seeing this
year's first branch
