御渡被遊候御書付之写
○【朱】六十一
此度質素倹約御製服等之義御究ニ付毛綿
類買求候者多相成候処ゟ令直上候由又毛綿ニ而
其價ハ絹ニも等敷取扱候商人も有之哉ニ
相聞質素倹約之御趣意ニ相悖候仕成
別而不心得如何ニ付彌右様之者有之ニおいてハ
屹と取糺咎可申付旨を以右商事いたし候者
町奉行所ニおいて厚取究候趣ニ而市中右程ニ
取究候事殊ニ壱牧御趣意相聞候場合
郷分ニおいても不都合之品取扱右直段引上
候様之義有之ニおいてハ猶更以其儘ニ不相成
筋ニ付追々取調之上其向ニ應シ屹と咎可申事ニ候
此度之義ハ其方共右賣事致候者共方へ罷越
本人ハ勿論家族召仕之者ニ至迄一同心得違
無之様重々懇ニ申付候様一昨丑十月其方共へ申付候

○【朱】六十一
この度、質素倹約・御製服等の件についてご決定になったことにより、毛綿類を買い求める者が多くなったところから価格が上昇したとのこと、また毛綿でありながらその価格は絹にも等しく取り扱う商人もいるようだと聞いております。これは質素倹約のご趣意に反する仕業であり、特に心得違いで良くないことです。ますますそのような者がいる場合には、きっと取り調べて咎めを申し付ける旨をもって、右の商売をしている者について町奉行所において厳しく取り調べる趣旨で、市中をそれほどまでに取り調べること、ことに一度ご趣意をお聞きした場合には、郷村部においても不都合な品物を取り扱い、その価格を引き上げるような件があった場合には、なおさらそのままにしておけない筋合いですので、追々調査の上、その方面に応じてきっと咎めを申すことになります。
この度の件については、そなたたち（地方役人）が右の売買を行っている者たちのもとへ出向いて、本人はもちろん家族・召使の者に至るまで一同心得違いがないよう重々懇切に申し付けるように、一昨年丑年十月にそなたたちへ申し付けました。

Regarding the recent decisions on frugality, economy, and official clothing regulations, we have heard that due to the increase in people purchasing cotton and wool materials, prices have risen. We have also heard that some merchants are treating cotton and wool at prices equal to silk. This conduct contradicts the policy of frugality and economy and demonstrates a particularly poor understanding of the situation.
Should there continue to be such people, they shall be strictly investigated and punished. To this end, those engaged in such commerce shall be thoroughly investigated by the town magistrate's office. The investigation of the city has been conducted to this extent, and particularly now that the policy has been announced once, should there be any inappropriate handling of goods or price increases in rural areas, this cannot be left unaddressed. After conducting investigations, strict punishment shall be applied according to the circumstances.
Regarding this current matter, you (local officials) shall visit those who are engaged in such sales and thoroughly and kindly instruct not only the principals but also their family members and servants so that none shall be mistaken in their understanding. This was ordered to you in the 10th month of the previous year of the Ox.
