市郷之者御制服之儀能相守候趣相聞候尚
此上相弛ミ不申様可相心得旨御仕置被申聴候趣
本〆之面々ゟ演達有之候尤絹物ハ勿論毛綿たり共
高價之品相扱候義ハ不相調筈ニ候所端々右品
取扱候様相聞候ニ付先賣元取究候様可致旨をも
演達ニ候随而右達ニ付相弛不申様不心得者取糺ニ
及候ハ勿論之事ニ候へ共古今之風土山里之
違も有之内外巨細ニ行渡候而ハ其土地之
向ニ應候取究ニ不相成候而ハ難致永續候ニ付
右取究向存寄申談可申出候

○【朱書き】 諸郡与頭・庄屋への達し
六十三
市郷の者が御制服の件をよく守っている旨が聞こえてくる。なお、この上緩むことのないよう心得るべき旨、御仕置きが申し聞かされた趣を、本締めの面々から達しがあった。もっとも絹物はもちろん、木綿であっても高価な品を扱うことは調わないはずであるところ、端々で右の品を取り扱っているように聞こえるため、まず売り元を取り調べるよう致すべき旨も達しである。したがって右の達しについて、緩むことのないよう、不心得者を取り調べに及ぶのはもちろんのことであるが、古来の風土・山里の違いもあり、内外に巨細に行き渡らせるには、その土地の向きに応じた取り調べでなければ永続は難しいため、右取り調べの向きについて存じ寄りを申し談じて申し出るべきである。

It is reported that people of the city and villages are properly observing the regulations regarding prescribed clothing. Furthermore, instructions have been given that they should understand not to become lax in this matter going forward, and this matter of official punishment has been communicated through notifications from the chief supervisors. Particularly, it is understood that handling of silk goods, and even cotton goods of high value, should not be permitted, yet it is reported that such goods are being handled in remote areas. Therefore, it has also been communicated that the sources of such sales should first be investigated. Accordingly, regarding this notification, it is of course necessary to investigate those who are negligent so as not to become lax. However, given that there are differences in local customs and mountain village conditions from ancient times, and that detailed enforcement throughout all areas both near and far must be adapted to the circumstances of each locality to ensure continuity, opinions should be discussed and reported regarding the direction of such investigations.
