現代語訳
「とうとう（消えると言う奴にて、互いに勝負が付かざりし）河童と狐、見越しの両大将、秘術と戦えば勝利にてはまた（返し？）」と両人馬より飛んで下り、切り結ぶ。さりながら狐は見越しの留守の城へ押し寄せさせ、その身はこの所にて戦う。

かかる所に老人一群、酔いさがり足から山に隠居なせし坂田の金時、この度見越し・狐の戦いを聞き、「いずれも昔はここらやすき輩なれば、捨て置かれず」と此所へ来たり、危うきを押し留むる。

「やれやれ、久しや。両人坂田の金時なるは、まずまず双方は物を引き召され。」

英語訳
"At last (with these fellows who disappear, neither side could achieve victory) the kappa and fox, both great generals of Mikoshi, fought with secret arts, but even in victory there was (retaliation?)" Both leaped down from their horses and engaged in sword combat. However, the fox had his forces attack Mikoshi's castle in his absence, while he himself fought at this location.

At this point, a group of old men, staggering drunkenly from the mountain where Sakata no Kintoki had been living in retirement, heard of this battle between Mikoshi and the fox. Saying "Both of these were once familiar companions, so we cannot abandon them," he came to this place and intervened to stop the danger.

"Oh my, it's been so long. You two, since this is Sakata no Kintoki, both sides should withdraw your weapons."
