現代語訳
見越し入道は、狐・狸をはじめ、猫又・川獺・轆轤首・その他が年始に見えないので、春を待って忍んで表から見越してみたところ、自分を滅ぼそうという相談をしているので、手立てをもって狐・狸をやっつけようと、百々爺の娘である雪女を呼び出し、計略を言い含める。
【見越し入道の台詞】
「これこれ雪女よ、そなたが色気をもって狐・狸を誘惑し、狐を討って来い。この懐剣を所持しなければ、首をかくことに及ぶものはない。合点がいったなら、いずれ褒美を与えよう。急げ急げ。」
【雪女の台詞】
「はい、かしこまりました。ただ今仰せられました一大事の手立てをもって、仕おおせましょう。」
【見越し入道の独り言】
「あの狐めも、女嫌いという風でもない。随分誘惑しなさい。」
【雪女の親（百々爺）の台詞】
「これ娘や、大事な御用じゃ。おいらら夫婦が浮かぶ事だとえ、仕遂げなさい。」
英語訳
Mikoshi-nyūdō, noticing that the fox, tanuki, cat-demon, river otter, rokurokubi, and others had not come for New Year's visits, waited for spring and secretly peered from the front. When he discovered they were plotting to destroy him, he decided to use a stratagem against the fox and tanuki. He summoned Yuki-onna (Snow Woman), the daughter of Dōdō-jii, and briefed her on his plan.
【Mikoshi-nyūdō's dialogue】
"Now, now, Yuki-onna, use your feminine charms to seduce the fox and tanuki, then strike down the fox. Without carrying this dagger, there is nothing that can match severing a neck. If you understand, I will reward you handsomely. Hurry, hurry!"
【Yuki-onna's dialogue】
"Yes, I understand completely. I shall accomplish this crucial mission you have just commanded with the utmost care."
【Mikoshi-nyūdō's aside】
"That fox doesn't seem to be the type who dislikes women. Seduce him thoroughly."
【Yuki-onna's parent (Dōdō-jii)'s dialogue】
"Listen, daughter, this is an important mission. This could be the salvation of us husband and wife. See it through to the end."
