見越し入道が片寄り押し寄せると聞き、狐と狸の両大将は、かねて調練なしたる化け物を語らい軍法を巡らし、それより深夜に及んで法螺貝・鼓の旗二流しなだれお下して、おめき叫んで入道の城へ押し寄せる。
「何とぞ勝利を得て勝ち戦の声を上げ、喜び泣きをいたしたい。」
「攻め太鼓の間に合わぬ時は、我が腹鼓を合図と知るべし。」

英語訳
When they heard that Mikoshi-nyūdō was approaching with his forces, the two generals—the fox and the tanuki—gathered the monsters they had previously trained, devised military strategies, and as the night deepened, they lowered two banners of conch shells and drums, shouting and screaming as they attacked the nyūdō's castle.
"By all means, let us achieve victory and raise the victory cry, shedding tears of joy!"
"When the attack drums cannot keep time, know that my belly drum shall serve as the signal."
