——都に入ろうとした。彦根・大垣の兵が要地を押さえて守っていたため、道を転じて越前に向かった。この時、加賀藩の兵が江州（近江）の要塞を守っていた。武田らは使者をもって加賀藩の軍に請うて言った。「我らはまさに京師に事情を申し述べようとしている。どうか道を開けてほしい」と。加賀藩の兵はこれを承諾しなかった。武田らは計が尽き、ついに加賀藩に降伏した。加賀藩はこれを幕府に報告した。幕府は武田らを各藩に分けて幽閉し、翌年の春、斬罪に処した。

——to enter the capital. As the troops of Hikone and Ōgaki were holding and guarding the key positions, [the rōshi] changed course and headed toward Echizen Province. At this time, the troops of Kaga domain were guarding the fortifications in Ōmi Province. Takeda and his companions sent a messenger to petition the Kaga forces, saying: "We intend to present our circumstances before the capital. We humbly ask that you open a path for us." The Kaga troops refused to comply. Takeda and his companions, their stratagems exhausted, ultimately surrendered to Kaga domain. Kaga reported this to the shogunate. The shogunate distributed Takeda and the others among various domains, where they were kept under confinement, and the following spring they were executed by beheading.
