縦雖実子筋目違たる儀不可立事

殉死之儀弥令制禁事
一知行之所務清廉沙汰之国郡不可令衰弊道路
駅馬橋舟等無断絶可令往還事

荷船之外於御船ハ如先規停止事
一諸国散在之寺社領従古至于今所付来者不
可取放之勿論新地之寺社建立弥令停止之
若無拠子細有之者達奉行所可受差図事
一万事応江戸之法度於国々所々可遵行事
右条々堅可相守之当家代々潤色之故無所改正
仍用天和法制者也

たとえ実子であっても筋目が違う場合は立ててはならないこと

殉死の件については、いよいよ禁止を命じること
一、知行地の所務は清廉に行い、査察の国郡を衰退させてはならない。道路、駅馬、橋、舟等は断絶することなく往来できるようにすること

荷船以外の御船については、先例の通り停止すること
一、諸国に散在する寺社領で、古くから今に至るまで付けられてきたものは取り上げてはならない。言うまでもなく新しい寺社の建立はいよいよ停止させる。もしやむを得ない事情がある場合は奉行所に届け出て指図を受けること
一、万事江戸の法度に従い、国々、所々で遵行すること
右の条々を堅く守るべきである。当家代々の潤色の故に改正する所はない。よって天和の法制を用いるものである。

Even if they are actual sons, if their lineage is inappropriate, they must not be established [as heirs].

Regarding the matter of following one's lord in death (junshi), this is to be strictly prohibited.
1. The administration of fiefs should be conducted with integrity, and the provinces and districts under inspection must not be allowed to decline. Roads, post horses, bridges, boats, etc. should be maintained without interruption for travel.

Regarding御船 (official boats) other than cargo vessels, they are to be suspended as per previous regulations.
1. Temple and shrine lands scattered throughout the provinces that have been granted from ancient times to the present must not be confiscated. Needless to say, the construction of new temples and shrines is to be strictly prohibited. If there are unavoidable circumstances, one must report to the magistrate's office and receive instructions.
1. In all matters, the edicts of Edo should be followed and implemented in all provinces and localities.
The above articles must be strictly observed. Due to the successive refinements by our house through the generations, there is nothing to be corrected. Therefore, the legal system of the Tenna era is to be employed.

However, regarding the above, a messenger was dispatched to Yamashiro-no-kami-dono for official notification.
1. On the same day, there was a summons from Senior Councilor (rōjū) Kuze Yamato-no-kami (Shigeyuki)-dono, and when the deputy (rusuigakari) Miyanishi Jūrōzaemon (Sadayoshi) went,
