大関新五左衛門直看を通じて、増上寺近辺で火事等があった場合、御普請場所へ御出馬されるべきか、それとも御家来のみを派遣されるべきかの旨をお伺いされたところ、御家来のみを派遣するよう御指図があった
一、正月七日、若菜の御祝儀として御使者を通じて例の通り御肴（鯛三尾）を献上された
一、同日、地震につき御機嫌をお伺いするため、御城へ御使者として御留守居の宮北十郎左衛門定由を派遣された
一、同日夜、尾張町から出火したが、増上寺辺りが風下になったため、御普請場へ御出馬された
一、正月九日、増上寺の御仏殿へ御参詣され、そこから御普請場へ御見分のため御出向きになられた
一、正月十六日、御城下の町人共が昨年から米が高値で難儀しているところ、なお一層高値となり、その上大雪で困窮している由により、御救済として米五百俵を御貸し付けになる旨が仰せ出された
一、正月十八日、御用番の戸田山城守忠真殿へ御逢対の御勤めをされた
一、正月二十一日、御老中の久世大和守重之殿へ右同様の御勤めをされた
一、正月二十二日、本多孫太郎長員がこの間から疱瘡を患っているため、御見舞いとして御書を下された

Through Ōzeki Shingozaemon Naomi, [the lord] inquired whether he should personally go to the construction site if there were fires near Zōjōji Temple, or whether only his retainers should be dispatched. The instruction was given that only retainers should be sent.
1. On the 7th of the 1st month, for the young herbs celebration, the customary offering of fish (three sea bream) was presented through a messenger.
1. On the same day, due to an earthquake, to inquire about [the shogun's] well-being, the castellan Miyanokita Jūrozaemon Sadayoshi was sent as a messenger to the castle.
1. On the same night, a fire broke out from Owari-chō, but as the area around Zōjōji Temple was downwind, [the lord] went to the construction site.
1. On the 9th of the 1st month, [the lord] visited the Buddha hall at Zōjōji Temple, and from there went to the construction site for inspection.
1. On the 16th of the 1st month, as the townspeople of the castle town had been suffering from high rice prices since last year, and the prices had become even higher with severe snowfall causing hardship, it was announced that 500 hyō of rice would be lent as relief.
1. On the 18th of the 1st month, [the lord] performed the duty of audience with Toda Yamashiro-no-kami Tadazane, who was on duty.
1. On the 21st of the 1st month, [the lord] performed the same duty with Rōjū Kuze Yamato-no-kami Shigeyuki.
1. On the 22nd of the 1st month, as Honda Magotarō Nagataka had been suffering from smallpox recently, a letter of inquiry was sent to him.
1. On the same day, as there had been a fire within the grounds of Tōeizan on the night of the 20th, the shrine...
