一異国船若いかりをおろし罷在様子ニ相見
候時ハ早速御領分浦続不残相触番船差出
昼之内も浜辺江所之者浦続其所々江大勢罷
出夜ニ入候時者陸ニ而かかり焼きひしく用心
之体ニ見せ陸江上り不申候様ニ仕事専一ニ候由

3月10日 異国船が渡来した際の取り扱い方について、西国方面での
取り扱い方を兼ねて聞き合わせておくよう、昨年の御帰国の御道中において家老
酒井玄蕃知房に仰せ付けておかれた件について、江戸表の留守居大関
新五左衛門直看が問い合わせた書付が先達て回覧されたので、今日評定所において
金津奉行・郡奉行・御目付に月番家老狛伊勢澄孝から左の
通り書付を一通ずつ渡した

異国船が福井御領分の浦で、たとえば陸から三里
あるいは五里ほどの沖を通り、北か南へ通り過ぎる時は
たとえ異国船と見えても、江戸表への御注
進には及ばない。もっとも、そのような節は異国船が通ったということを
浦々でも批判しないよう仰せ付けられるべきこと
一、異国船がもし錨を下ろして停泊している様子に見える
時は、早速御領分の浦続きに残らず触れ回し、番船を差し出し
昼の間も浜辺に土地の者や浦続きその所々から大勢が
出て、夜に入った時は陸でかがり火を焚いて厳しく用心
している体を見せ、陸に上がらせないようにすることが専一である。

previously ordered to retainer Sakai Genba Tomofusa during last year's return journey to
inquire about handling methods in the western provinces, a written inquiry from Ōseki
Shingozaemon Naomi, the Edo caretaker, was circulated earlier. Today at the council chamber,
monthly duty elder Koma Ise Sumitaka distributed the following written directive,
one copy each to the Kanazu magistrate, district magistrate, and inspector:

When foreign ships pass through the waters of Fukui domain territory, for example
three ri or about five ri offshore from land, heading north or south
Even if they appear to be foreign ships, there is no need to report
to Edo. However, in such cases, the coastal villages should be instructed
not to discuss the passage of foreign ships
1. If a foreign ship appears to have dropped anchor and is staying,
immediately alert all adjacent coastal areas of the domain territory, dispatch guard boats,
and during daytime have many local people and those from adjacent coastal areas
come out to the beaches. When night falls, light warning fires on land to show strict vigilance
and prevent them from landing. This is of primary importance.
