之趣西国筋定法之由申候事
一船見分ニ万一参候時者百匁斗之鉄炮仕懸小鉄
炮も入其外熊手取縄等尤鎗さやはつし罷
越候由一艘ニ大勢乗候事悪敷由尤大鉄炮者悪
敷御座候由水主手代り召連候事肝要之由申候
一おとし鉄炮玉込ニ而打可申之旨 御下知之事
有之由左様之時者船之左右江打見合申候由
一兵船陸江上り候心得ニ而段々近陸へより申候時者
相図を定近辺之浦之者共声を立馳集候
様ニ西国筋定法ニ被 仰付置候由
一日本船異国船をしたひ来通路仕候を見付申
候得者召捕へ候御定法候若左様之者有之召捕
候得者 御忠節之御事之由仲買仕候者者猶
以召捕候事
一異国人ハ何とそ船より陸へ上り不申候様ニ厳
仕候事肝要之由万一上り申候得者猶以始終
六ケ敷事御座候由申候事

現代語訳
この趣旨は西国筋の定法であると申すこと。
一、船の見分に万一参る時は、百匁ほどの鉄砲を仕掛け、小鉄砲も入れ、その外熊手・取縄等、もっとも槍は鞘を外して参るという。一艘に大勢乗ることは良くないという。もっとも大鉄砲は良くないという。水主・手代わりを召し連れることが肝要であると申すこと。
一、落とし鉄砲を玉込めにして撃つべき旨の御下知があるという。そのような時は船の左右に撃って様子を見るという。
一、兵船が陸に上がる心積もりで段々近い陸地へ寄ってくる時は、相図を定め、近辺の浦の者どもが声を立てて馳せ集まるように、西国筋の定法として仰せ付け置かれているという。
一、日本船が異国船に従って来て通路を案内するのを見つけた場合は召し捕えるという御定法がある。もしそのような者があり召し捕えた場合は御忠節のことであるという。仲買いをする者はなおさら召し捕えること。
一、異国人はどうにかして船より陸へ上陸しないように厳重にすることが肝要である。万一上陸した場合は、なおさら始終難しいことがあるという。

These provisions are the established laws of the western provinces.

1. There is an established law to arrest Japanese ships that follow foreign ships and guide them through waterways. If such persons are found and arrested, it is considered loyal service. Those who act as intermediaries should especially be arrested.
1. It is essential to strictly prevent foreigners from landing on shore from their ships by any means. If they do land, it will lead to even more difficult situations throughout.
