苦練樹子（せんたんのみ）を毎年十月 取（と）り。
干（ほし）てたくはへ。正月元日の夜。

見実（み）一二升 煎（せん）じ小児（せうに）の遍身（へんしん）上
下あまねく残（のこ）る所（ところ）なく洗（あらひ）
浴（あらふ）べし。其 効（しるし）奇妙（きめう）也。此方を
毎歳用ゆれば。永《割書：ク》疱瘡（ほうそう）
の憂（うれへ）なき神方（しんほう）なり

【右丁】
栴檀の実を毎年十月に取り、干してたくわえておく。正月元日の夜、午前2時頃から午前0時頃までの間に、父でも母でも、一人でその栴檀の実一、二升を煎じ、小児の全身上下あまねく残る所なく洗い浴びせるべし。その効果は奇妙である。この方法を毎年用いれば、永久に疱瘡の心配がない神秘的な方法である。

その家の門の入口の真ん中へ埋めておくべし。必ずつつがなく疱瘡をする。その効験は疑いなし。
○疱瘡と麻疹ともに免れる方法
一 紫石英《割書：二分》 一朱《割書：二分五厘｜土器にて少し炒る》
一 大黄《割書：一両》 一 紫草根《割書：一両》
右四味を細末にして、磁器に入れ、清浄な水で溶き、甲子の日、または天赦日を用いて、小児の眉間に塗る。

Collect chinaberry tree seeds every year in October, dry them and store them. On the night of New Year's Day, between around 2 AM and midnight, either the father or mother alone should boil one or two sho of the said chinaberry seeds and wash and bathe the small child's entire body thoroughly, leaving no part unwashed. The effect is miraculous. If this method is used every year, it is a divine method that will forever eliminate worry about smallpox.

○Method to avoid both smallpox and measles

One part rhubarb《Marginal note: 1 ryo》 One part purple gromwell root《Marginal note: 1 ryo》
Grind the above four ingredients into fine powder, put in porcelain, mix with pure water, and on a kinoe-ne day or a tensya day, apply to the space between the small child's eyebrows.
