現代語訳
すべて御入来の御方様のうち、内々に御用人共へ御役等の件について御願いされる事がある場合、御寄合または小普請の御方様など、どのような御奉公でも務めたいとの御頼みまたは御組下御用人等の御頼みは格別のこととして、その他御自分の立身出世に関することまたは御役の御希望等の件を内々に御頼みされる場合は、かねてから取次ぎいたしませんと申し付けてある段をお断り申し上げます。その上でもどうしてもという御頼みの場合は、あれこれ申し上げるのもかえって失礼になりますので、その旨一応お聞かせいただいた上でお答え申し上げます。この趣旨をみな心得ているよう仰せ出されました。
戌年九月
御直参の御方は申すまでもなく、すべての御家人衆へ、それぞれの宅にて面会することについて、以前からも仰せ出されていますが、師弟関係あるいは由緒がある場合でも、お伺いを立てずにみだりに面会してはならないことです。たとえ押して参られても、その旨をお断りするはずですが、近頃自然と緩んでいる向きも聞こえます。なお一層堅く守るべきです。

Regarding all visiting dignitaries, when there are private requests to retainers concerning appointments and other matters: requests from those of the goshukai (assembly) or kobushin (minor construction) ranks, or any requests from subordinate retainers regarding any form of service they wish to perform, are considered exceptional matters. However, for other personal requests concerning one's own advancement or desired appointments made privately, we have been instructed beforehand not to act as intermediaries, and this refusal should be communicated. If there are still persistent requests after this, since arguing back and forth would be rather impolite, we should first listen to such requests once and then provide our response. Everyone has been instructed to understand this policy.
9th month of the Year of the Dog
Regarding direct vassals, it goes without saying, but concerning all house retainers meeting at their respective residences - as has been proclaimed before - even in cases of master-disciple relationships or historical connections, one must not meet carelessly without proper notification. Even if someone insists on visiting, such meetings should be declined. However, recently it has been heard that some have become lax in this regard. This rule must be observed even more strictly.
