一、天保14年卯11月29日、酒井左源太の養父十郎助《割書：休息の身分である》に蟄居を命じ
伺いの上遠慮 酒井左源太
ただし親類従弟まで伺いを差し出すこと
右は今まで蟄居の者の続き合い、従弟まで伺いを差し出すことが慣例である。来栖庄右衛門に蟄居を仰せ付けられた節、従弟まで相伺った例があったが、しっかりとした御規定もなかった。元来蟄居の件は重い御咎めであって勤めの者であれば、名跡・式者の相続とも仰せ付けられ、再御奉公もしない格別重い事であるため、以来蟄居続き合いは従弟まで遠慮の伺いを差し出すべき旨を、今度御評議の上で決定したこと。
一、宝暦3年酉12月、蟄居の者を他国へ出し、出家・医者等にもしたい願い。養子の部、子供片付けの条に出ている。
一、同年、大橋久右衛門へ先年御預けになった岩佐丈右衛門を在辺へ遣わし、蟄居をしたい願い。御咎めにつき諸事の条に出ている。

一、 8月5日、天谷嘉七郎の養父五兵衛に先年蟄居を仰せ付けられたところ、疳積の症が発症し、嘉七郎方が無人で看病に迷惑しているため、実父吉田弥八郎方へ引き取り、厳重に慎ませ置いて養生をしたい旨を願い、口上書を嘉七郎並びに同姓天谷茂右衛門、また吉田弥八郎からもそれぞれ差し出した。
一、疳積等で囲いへ入れ置きたい旨を御目付へ口上書を差し出す規則
一、大井長十郎の実伯父小笠原孫次郎が疳積で難儀しているため、親類中村権太夫から相達し、御目付が聞き置きで囲いへ入れたこと
一、文化6年巳7月、御中陰中に岩上音五郎の養父梶太夫が蟄居していたところ、疳症がいよいよ増したため、この節で恐れ入るが、囲いを申し付けて入れ置き、介抱をしたい旨を親類から番頭へ願いの口上書を差し出した。差し掛かりの儀故、願いの通り仰せ付けられた。
一、享和3年亥2月 口上の覚
私の弟大三郎について、去秋疳積が発症し不埒の儀があったため、その砌り相達して囲いへ入れ置いたところ、当時では全快したため、囲い等を指し免じ、家内に慎ませ置きたい旨を願い奉る。この等の趣を御家老中まで申す。天方数馬様 松原頼母
一、享保元年申9月9日夜、酒井玄蕃方宅において嶋田宇右衛門へ申し渡されたのは、同姓内蔵助について御咎めの儀があり、拝知を召し上げ蟄居を仰せ付けられたが、しかし御譜代の筋目を思し召し、その方へ500石を下し置かれ、寄合格に仰せ付けられた旨。
ただし享保15年戌5月24日、嶋田宇右衛門の養父雲外の件、一家の内並びに寺参等を今度御免になった旨。
一、元文元年辰9月23日 笹治刑栄の隠居後不慎につき蟄居。上屋敷・下屋敷へ折々参る儀は差し支えない旨【挿入】同3年午9月11日、両親の寺へ参詣する儀は勝手次第、外の寺参は無用、御寺参詣もいかがと思し召される旨を仰せ出された事。
一、同3年午9月15日、太田丹士は去年不調法の品につき御暇を下し置かれ蟄居を仰せ付けられたが、御奉公向の儀は精出して相勤めたため、不調法の儀を御免になり召し返され、最前の通り拝知150石を下し置かれ、奥御小姓を仰せ付けられた。以来相慎んで相勤めるべき旨。
一、文政10年亥2月21日、定府御広敷御用人津田四郎左衛門の息子【挿入】ただし若殿様御附に別段召し出され居ること 小十郎並びに新番組矢嶋与助の養子与三郎、両人が御門外へ出て罷り帰らないため相達して相尋ねたところ、相知らない趣であった。しかるところ同24日、両人方が田舎にて病気で罷り在る由を先々の者から相知らせがあったため、両人共引き取り、親の遠慮を伺いの上、先ず差し控えを仰せ付けられた。
同29日、小十郎は御充行を召し上げられ、親へお返しになり、嫡子に相立てられず蟄居、四郎左衛門も遠慮を仰せ付けられた。与三郎も養父母の縁を切り、実兄松田善四郎へ相返して蟄居、与助も遠慮を仰せ付けられた。同年亥5月14日、小十郎は疳症もあり心底見届けないため、四郎左衛門の願いの上、御屋敷立ち退きを仰せ付けられた。亥9月14日、与三郎について御入部恐悦の折柄につき、月代をして家内にて親類対面、善四郎の願いの通り仰せ付けられた。同11年子4月12日、小十郎の眼病につき呼び戻し、慎ませ置いて療養したい旨、四郎左衛門の願いの通り仰せ付けられた。同12年丑3月23日、小十郎は先年不調法の儀があって蟄居を仰せ付けられ、願いの上御屋敷を立ち退いたが、又々病気につき呼び戻して慎ませ置き、その後親類対面を御免されたところ、この度四郎左衛門について

This follows the established practice that when someone is placed under house arrest, relatives up to cousins submit formal inquiries. When Kurusu Shōemon was sentenced to house arrest, there was precedent for cousins to submit inquiries, but there were no firm regulations. Originally, house arrest is a severe punishment, and for those in service, succession of family name and ceremonial positions would be appointed, and they would not serve again - it being particularly grave. Therefore, it was decided through deliberation that henceforth, for house arrest cases, formal inquiries for self-restraint should be submitted by relatives up to cousins.
