現代語訳
遠慮伺並びに遠慮
一、御役御取上げ遠慮等を申し付けられる際、組の者を見張りに二人ずつ後に付けて派遣する。
ただし評定所或いは御家老中宅においても同様とするが、御徒目付は派遣する必要はない。
一、上から申し付けられる遠慮又は下から伺い出ても遠慮を申し渡される際は同じ取扱いとする。延享四年まで。
【朱書き】一、上から申し付けられる遠慮は見張りの組の者を派遣し取締り等を行い吟味する。下から伺い出る遠慮は組の者を派遣しない。
一、元文三年午年六月十一日、川地源五、御膳番御取上げ。
一、寛保二年戌年八月、御先物頭荒川助右衛門、御役御取上げ、大御番入り遠慮。
一、延享三年寅年九月十九日、御書院番組東郷八郎左衛門、中奥御小姓土屋幸七と不相応の参会をしたため、御役を指し除かれ大御番入り遠慮。
一、宝暦三年酉年六月、払御納戸香西六太夫、御役御取上げ遠慮。
一、明和五年戌年四月十六日、酒井外記遠慮。
一、享保十六年亥年十二月四日、御城代が遠慮等を伺い出る際は、月番の御留守居番頭【挿入】恒岡安左衛門が取次ぎ、高知の上席か月番【挿入】松平庄兵衛へ差し出し、高知中から御家老中へ伺い出る予定。
ただし遠慮中、御城内の鍵共【挿入】御座所の鍵もそのとおり心得申すべき旨。そのまま御城代に差し置き、御用の際は御城代与力屋敷に詰めているので与力まで申し聞かせ、与力共が御留守居番頭へ連絡して指図を得て勤めるべきこと。
【下に有り】
一、狛伊勢、御城内の件についてもご迷惑をおかけし、ついては遠慮の件をお伺いしたい旨により与三左衛門方へ申し伝えたところ、伺うに及ばない旨、ついては通路をお願い申し上げる。
一、御用番酒井与三左衛門方の指図によりこのとおり。

一、右につき夜中火事の節の御門断の件、当番与力から断るべき旨留め置きあり。
一、同五日、市右衛門が遠慮に在っても御用のある際は菅沼与一郎恒岡安左衛門が市右衛門方へ出向いて御用を伝達すべき旨、御家老中が安左衛門へ申し聞かせた。
一、翌正月四日、遠慮御免。

Inquiries Regarding Discretionary Confinement and Discretionary Confinement
1. When official dismissal and discretionary confinement are ordered, two group members each shall be sent to follow as surveillance.

1. 19th day of the 9th month of Enkyō 3, Year of the Tiger (1746): Tōgō Hachirōzaemon of the inner palace guard unit had an inappropriate meeting with inner palace page Tsuchiya Kōshichi, was removed from office and transferred to senior guard with discretionary confinement.

However, during discretionary confinement, regarding castle keys [insertion] including keys to the lord's quarters, the same understanding shall apply. The castle deputy shall remain in place, and when on duty, since he resides at the castle deputy's retainer residence, inform the retainers, who shall contact the residence keeper chief and serve according to instructions received.
