江戸ニ而御咎之留守
○一寛政二戌年二月十九日於江戸表溝口兵三郎遠慮被仰付候ニ付留守同様ニ相慎罷在
候事 此訳裏ニ記之
但親類之内願之上河崎小十郎通路仕候
右ハ旧例無之ニ付御評議之上相極ル以後右之通規定ニ相成候事
一江戸表ニ而御咎之者留守ニ同居いたし罷在候者之儀御咎之節同居之部ニ出之
一文化十一戌十一月晦日吉田一貞於江戸表遠慮被仰付候然処此表留守へ不申来由ニ而留守之者
門〆候貪着も無之趣相聞候ニ付月番江口源左衛門ゟ一貞伯父上田万順迄以手紙一貞留守
之儀門を〆致遠慮居候様可取計旨申遣候右之趣ニ付通路ハ親類矢野五郎助相願致通

但其後出奔文化十四丑七月罷帰揚り屋へ被入置候処其後蟄居被仰付
○一寛政二戌二月於江戸表遠慮之者御小姓三人有之候処下山惣三郎家内ハ高松新兵衛方へ横山三之丞家内ハ周防長兵衛方へ預置 留守明候故預り之方ニ而為慎置候ニ付
不及通路溝口兵三郎留守立候ニ付川崎小十郎願之上通路被仰付候事
一文政五午八月七日於江戸表御中老中根孫右衛門遠慮被仰付其段十二日立飛脚ニ留守へ申来同十八日ゟ門立相慎候ニ付
一類之内大宮藤馬致通路候
但右孫右衛門遠慮日数七日ニ而御免被成候筈之処此表ニ而ハ其段不相知長々致遠慮候

Punishments in Edo - Regarding Absent Households
○1 On the 19th day of the 2nd month of Kansei 2nd year (Year of the Dog), Mizoguchi Heisaburo was ordered to practice restraint at Edo, and accordingly he practiced restraint as if at his home residence. The details of this are recorded on the reverse side.
However, among his relatives, Kawasaki Kojuro was permitted passage upon request.
Since there was no precedent for this, it was decided after deliberation. Henceforth this became the regulation.
1 Regarding those who reside with persons under punishment in Edo in their absence, this is addressed in the section on cohabitation during punishment.
1 On the last day of the 11th month of Bunka 11th year (Year of the Dog), Yoshida Ittei was ordered to practice restraint at Edo. However, since notification did not reach his home residence here, those at his residence did not close the gates and there appeared to be no restraint practiced. Therefore, monthly duty officer Eguchi Genzaemon sent a letter to Ittei's uncle Ueda Manjun instructing that regarding Ittei's absence, the gates should be closed and restraint should be practiced. Regarding this matter, his relative Yano Gorosuke requested and was permitted passage.
However, he later fled, returned in the 7th month of Bunka 14th year (Year of the Ox) and was placed in a temporary holding facility, after which he was ordered to house confinement.
○1 In the 2nd month of Kansei 2nd year (Year of the Dog), there were three pages under restraint at Edo. Shimoyama Sosaburo's family was entrusted to Takamatsu Shinbee, and Yokoyama Sannojo's family was entrusted to Suo Chobee. Since their residences were vacant, they were kept under restraint by their guardians, so passage was not necessary. Since Mizoguchi Heisaburo's residence remained occupied, Kawasaki Kojuro was permitted passage upon request.
1 On the 7th day of the 8th month of Bunsei 5th year (Year of the Horse), Senior Councilor Nakane Magoemon was ordered to practice restraint at Edo. This was communicated to his home residence by express messenger on the 12th, and from the 18th the gates were closed and restraint was practiced. Therefore, among his relatives, Omiya Toma was permitted passage.
However, while Magoemon's restraint was supposed to last seven days before pardon, this was not known at his home residence and restraint was practiced for an extended period.
