一遠慮被仰付者之親類遠慮伺候節不及其儀旨被仰出事ニ候得共父子一所ニ罷
在候者之儀ハ縦令他名を継候共指控候様被仰付筈
一寛保元元文六酉年七月廿九日大御番組真杉五太夫於江戸遠慮被仰付候節実弟大御番組石川金太夫
遠慮相伺候得共不及遠慮旨且又五太夫屋敷ニ一所ニ罷在候ニ付御番等之儀ニ付家来往来
之儀も其度々ニ御目付共へ相断可申哉大谷助六方へ相伺候処度毎断申ニ不及御番等ハ勿論相勤可
申私用之儀家来病人等之儀ハ五太夫遠慮之内取扱同事ニ致候様大谷助六方被申聞旨
番頭稲葉要人申聞候事留有之

処罰の際の同居について
一、遠慮を申し付けられた者の親類が遠慮を伺い出る際は、その必要はない旨仰せ出されることであるが、父子が一所に住んでいる者については、たとえ他の家名を継いでいても指し控えるよう申し付けられるはずである。
一、寛保元年（元文六年）七月二十九日、大御番組真杉五太夫が江戸にて遠慮を申し付けられた際、実弟の大御番組石川金太夫が遠慮を伺い出たが、遠慮に及ばない旨、また五太夫の屋敷に一緒に住んでいるため、御番等の件について家来の往来についても、その都度御目付たちへ断りを入れるべきかと大谷助六方へ伺ったところ、毎度断りを申し入れるには及ばず、御番等は勿論勤めるべし、私用については家来や病人等の件は五太夫の遠慮の内と同じように取り扱うよう大谷助六方から申し聞かされた旨、番頭稲葉要人が申し聞かせたという記録がある。
一、宝暦三年八月十六日、番頭皆川多左衛門が申し聞かせるには、昨日海福猪兵衛の長屋が焼失したため、自分の御番組の東郷平十郎が猪兵衛の屋敷に一緒に住んでいることについて遠慮を伺ったところ、その必要はない旨仰せ渡された。しかし猪兵衛が伺いの上で遠慮を申し付けられたため、平十郎は当番の際には出勤するようにしたい旨、もっとも私用は慎んで控えている旨を御家老中へ伺ったところ、その通り申し聞かせるべし旨芦田図書方から申し聞かされたため、平十郎へ筆頭を以って申し聞かせたので、この件承知置くよう申し聞かせる。
一、文政十三年八月二十二日、矢野鉄之助に遠慮が申し付けられたところ、鉄之助は兼ねてから浦井五兵衛方に同居していたため、五兵衛の門締めについて先例もないため、同役で評議し、御用番岡部左膳方へ伺って左の通り決定した。

Regarding Co-residence During Punishment
1. When relatives of those ordered into house arrest (enko) request to share in the punishment, it is stated that this is unnecessary. However, in cases where father and son reside together, even if one has inherited another family name, they should be ordered to refrain from activities.
1. On the 29th day of the 7th month of Kanpo 1 (Genbun 6, 1741), when Masugi Gotayu of the great guard unit was ordered into house arrest in Edo, his younger brother Ishikawa Kintayu, also of the great guard unit, requested to share the house arrest. However, he was told this was unnecessary. Since they resided together in Gotayu's residence, regarding guard duties and the comings and goings of retainers, he inquired through Otani Sukeroku whether he should seek permission from the inspectors each time. He was told through Otani Sukeroku that it was unnecessary to seek permission each time, that guard duties should of course be performed, and that private matters involving retainers and sick persons should be handled the same as during Gotayu's house arrest period. This was communicated by guard captain Inaba Kaname, as recorded.

On the 16th day of the 8th month of Horeki 3 (1753), guard captain Minagawa Tazaemon reported: Yesterday, Kaifuku Ihee's tenement burned down, so Togo Heijuro of my guard unit, who was residing with Ihee, had his house arrest status inquired about, but was told it was unnecessary. However, since Ihee was ordered into house arrest upon inquiry, regarding Heijuro's attendance during his guard duty shifts, and that private matters should be conducted with restraint, when this was inquired of the senior retainers, Ashida Zusho's office replied that this should be communicated accordingly. This was communicated to Heijuro through the senior officer, so please take note of this matter.
1. On the 22nd day of the 8th month of Bunsei 13 (1830), Yano Tetsunosuke was ordered into house arrest.
