手紙之趣ニ而取計候様申聞今度ハ宜候得共以後ハ手紙之事
但右手紙ニ而届候儀区々有之外高知ニ而ハ多分口上控ニ而誰使と認宛名無之右之通ニ

今晩之儀ハ手紙ニ而被相通候趣ニ取計九月朔日於御城笹治権右衛門へ其段相達此度御免
之節ハ手紙ニ而被相届候様尤以来共右之届ハ前後共手紙ニ而被相届候様猶又御同席中へも
兼而御心得有之候様申達置候事
但最初ハ手紙ニ而断日々ハ口上控使之者を以断御免之節又々手紙ニ而断有之候事
一右同節触頭村上沖之助問合候ハ触頭ニ而一家共之内遠慮被仰付候者へ通路之儀相願候節
御在国ニハ終日之御供も有之且又御供日ニハ自然御城下出火有之候得ハ御城へ罷出候右等之
節ハ為名代家来差越候而も可宜哉と申聞候ニ付同役致評議候処寄合席ニ而ハ右様之節家来
名代此方へ相達差越候儀相成候得共番外ニ而ハ譜代之家来も無之筈ニ付名代之儀ハ難相成旨
猶又御用番松平主馬方へ相伺候処其通り家来名代不相成右様無拠節ハ忰名代之儀ハ
不苦旨被申聞其段沖之助へ相達之
但番外通路之節此方へ届方ハ前条但書寄合と同断 弘化三午十一月仙石万右衛門
遠慮之節通路村上太郎市月番千本藤左衛門へ届方如此

一、文政十三年七月、明石縫殿閉門を仰せ付けられ、通路本多筑後が願いの通り仰せ付けられた段を手紙にて申し越すはずのところ手紙が参らず。波々伯部左馬御咎めの節、芦田図書通路の節は手紙が参ったゆえ、その後筑後の使いへ申し聞き、手紙の趣にて取り計らうよう申し聞いた。今度はよろしいが、以後は手紙の事
但し右手紙にて届ける儀は区々であり、外高知にては多分口上控にて誰の使いと認め、宛名がない。右の通りに承知置く事
一、閉門は出入り断ちがあり、出は口上使にて申し参る事

但し最初は手紙にて断り、日々は口上控使いの者をもって断り、御免の節又々手紙にて断りがある事
一、右同節、触頭村上沖之助が問い合わせたのは、触頭にて一家ともの内遠慮を仰せ付けられた者への通路の儀を相願う節、御在国には終日の御供もあり、且つまた御供日には自然御城下出火があれば御城へ罷り出る。右等の節は名代として家来を差し越しても宜しいかと申し聞いたにつき、同役で評議したところ、寄合席にては右様の節家来名代をこちらへ相達し差し越す儀は相成るが、番外にては譜代の家来もないはずにつき名代の儀は相成り難い旨、なお又御用番松平主馬方へ相伺ったところ、その通り家来名代は相成らず、右様止むを得ない節は息子名代の儀は苦しからない旨を申し聞かれ、その段を沖之助へ相達した
但し番外通路の節、こちらへの届け方は前条但書寄合と同断。弘化三年十一月仙石万右衛門遠慮の節、通路村上太郎市が月番千本藤左衛門への届け方このごとし

In July, Bunsei 13th year, when Akashi Nuinodono was ordered house confinement, Honda Chikugo's petition to serve as visitor was approved as requested, and this was to be communicated by letter, but the letter did not arrive. When Hahabe Sama was under punishment and Ashida Zusho served as visitor, a letter did arrive, so afterwards Chikugo's messenger was told to handle it according to the letter's intent. This time was acceptable, but hereafter it should be by letter.

1. On August 29th, Tenpō 5th year, visitor Mizutani Oribe for Minakawa Kunaino, visitor Sasaharu Gonemon for Sano Kotarō, visitor Inagaki Bunko for Nakagawa Rokuzaemon - when these individuals were approved as visitors as requested, they reported their immediate departure through oral messengers. However, according to precedent, in December Tenpō 2nd year, Tominaga Enjirō served as visitor for Mito Tajima, and in Tenpō 3rd year, Mizutani Oribe served as visitor for Ōta Miya - both were told to report by letter and did so accordingly. This time they should also have been told to report by letter, but since it was very late at night, tonight's matter was handled as communication by letter. On September 1st at the castle, this was communicated to Sasaharu Gonemon, and for this pardon they should report by letter. Hereafter, such reports should always be by letter, both before and after.
