難渋今日より乞食同様之義且村役公儀表へ三十郎
退村届入用等も有之ニ付御憐愍ヲ以御下け被出下候
様村役より願出候ニ付是又評議之處右ハ肥前守可
任所存旨ニ決之由被申聞也依而謹直へ申談之上金壱歩
ト銭六百五十匁可遣旨申答了尚亦右建家出入大工
善兵衛へ申會近日罷越村役ヘ申届見積可置段申聞

現代語訳
難渋し、今日より乞食同様の状況となり、また村役人が公儀へ三十郎退村の届け出をする際の入用なども必要につき、御憐愍をもって御下げ渡し下されるよう、村役人より願い出があった。これについても評議したところ、右の件は肥前守の所存に任せるべき旨に決したと申し聞かされた。よって謹直へ申し談じた上で、金一歩と銭六百五十匁を遣わす旨を申し答えた。なお、また右の建家について、出入りの大工善兵衛へ申し合わせ、近日罷り越して村役人へ申し届け、見積もりを置くべき段を申し聞かせ置いた。
九日乙酉晴れ 堀川左衛門大志が弘美堀川守の相続につき、美佐尾へこれまで通り手分けとして女一人扶持を差し送る義について、大志の実父浦野保生院泰安並びに叔父山本政之助等より申し任せる条、美佐尾より左記の通り一札を差し出したところ、なお又大志からも一札が差し贈られた。両通の写しは左の如し。

右は弘業殿以来、私と一代中差し贈り下されるところ、この度其元殿が堀川家御相続につき、これまでの通り御差し贈り下される段、乗じて承知いたした。よって一札件の如し。

He was in dire straits and from today would be in a situation similar to that of a beggar. Additionally, since there were expenses required for the village officials to submit a notification to the government authorities regarding Sanjūrō's departure from the village, the village officials petitioned for compassionate assistance to be granted. This matter was also deliberated, and I was informed that it was decided that this should be left to the discretion of Hizen-no-kami. Therefore, after consulting with Kinchoku, I replied that one bu of gold and 650 mon of coins would be given. Furthermore, regarding the aforementioned building, I arranged with the contractor carpenter Zenbei to visit soon and report to the village officials with an estimate.
Ninth day, Kinoto-Tori, Clear - Regarding Horikawa Saemon Taishi's succession of Hiromi Horikawa-no-kami, concerning the matter of continuing to send one woman's stipend allocation to Misao as before, based on the entrustment from Taishi's real father Urano Hōsei-in Taian and uncle Yamamoto Masanosuke and others, Misao submitted a written pledge as follows. Furthermore, Taishi also sent a written pledge. Copies of both documents are as follows:

The above has been sent since the time of Lord Hirogyo during my lifetime, and with Your Honor's succession to the Horikawa house, I have duly acknowledged that it will continue to be sent as before. Therefore, this written pledge is as stated.
