蓋物類総て洗い置き候。
二十四日戊戌晴れ。御報賽御祈祷御当日なり。○早朝放髪、浴水、経紀所労中に付き清祓い、洒笹水ばかりなり。居間諸具等例の如く、酒笹木清め了りて出殿。一統麻上下着用、午刻ばかり。
職事方より今日御除服御復任御出仕御参りの義、諸大夫中相招かれ、非蔵人へ申し渡され、即刻御参内御礼申し上げ、次に御院参、大宮御所准后御方等へ御参りなり。一統恐悦申し上げ、御祝酒御肴等下され候。
二十五日乙亥時々啓く。今日貴船社日参初度なり。経千召し連れ参勤すべきところ、混穢明後日数間の義これ無きに付き相憚り延引、逞清方へ代勤相頼み了。○御燈講掛けの義、必顕申し談じ候ところ、予必顕両人共京都御用向繁多に付き、今日必頸を以て職中謹直まで御断り申し入れ候。

朔日丙午晴れ。御殿御祝向ならびに御領村々庄屋年寄御礼参上、御祝酒下され、両役盃遣わすこと等例年の如しなり。○千代蔵八朔礼のため薩州御屋敷へ午後より罷り越し、着用麻上下、予屋敷門内休所まで付き添い、小兵衛小供善蔵等前刻同所まで罷り出で相待ち、供市蔵うの召し連れ候。相済み了りて帰路、仲ヶ間中島方清水等へ立ち寄り、それより瀬尾弥兵衛方へ初めて召し連れ、祝いのため弥兵衛へ松魚七本、手代中へ井籠五丈片々、小兵衛へ肴科南鐐一片等送り候。祝酒小漬け飯等出で、入夜帰宅なり。

24th day, Tsuchinoe-inu, clear. The day of thanksgiving prayers. ○Early morning: let down hair, bathed in water. Due to being busy with administrative duties, performed purification with only sprinkling of bamboo leaf water. Living quarters and various implements were purified as usual with sake and bamboo leaves, then departed the hall. All wore hemp formal dress around noon.
From the administrative office, regarding today's end of mourning, restoration to office, and court attendance, the courtiers were summoned and informed through the non-chamberlain. Immediately attended court to express gratitude, then visited the retired emperor, Omiya Palace, the quasi-empress, and others. All expressed joy and were given celebratory sake and delicacies.
25th day, Kinoto-i, intermittently clear. Today is the first daily visit to Kifune Shrine. Though Tsunekazu should have been brought along for service, due to ritual defilement ending in a few days, [I] refrained and postponed, requesting substitute service from Teisei. ○Regarding the lantern lecture duties, when [I] discussed with Hissaken, since both Hissaken and I are very busy with Kyoto duties, today [I] sent a declining message through Hissukubi to Shokuchu Kinjiki.
Eighth Month, Major
1st day, Hinoe-uma, clear. Palace celebration and courtesy visits from village headmen and elders of the domain villages. Celebratory sake was bestowed, and cups were exchanged between both roles, as is customary each year. ○Chiyozo went to the Satsuma residence in the afternoon for Hassaku greetings, wearing hemp formal dress. I accompanied him to the rest area within my estate gate. Kohei, young servant Zenzo and others went to the same place earlier and waited. Ichizo was brought along as attendant. After completion, on the return journey, [we] stopped at Nakagama, Nakashima's place, Shimizu, etc. Then for the first time brought [Chiyozo] to Seo Yahei's place. As celebration, sent seven bonito to Yahei, five jo of well-baskets each to the clerks, and one piece of silver for fish money to Kohei. Celebratory sake, pickles, rice, etc. were served. Returned home after nightfall.
