現代語訳
追々交渉を重ね、今日里開き、来る二十八日に婿入りする。宗以が初めて入来し、なお又来月二日三日の内に経子が初めて星野へ罷り越す旨約定した。
二十七日壬申晴れ。前神主鳥居大路信平卿が今日神主還補の宣下があったとのこと。○実母の正忌日につき例の如く墓参りをした。
二十八日癸酉曇り。今日は吉辰につき、星野宗以・舎弟嘉蔵・供の下部二人・堀川寿光院同伴で未の刻過ぎに入来した。祝義として御酒料金百疋、肴料金二百疋、母へ白髪綿一包み、保子へ女形扇子三本入り一箱、経紀・経寛・経啓へ扇子五本入り一箱宛、千代蔵へ同じく小形扇子三本入り一箱、各々数品並びに侍嘉兵衛へ金一朱・半紙二折、下男亀四郎へ銭三百文・半紙二折、下女二人へ同断、料理人へ同断等が相送られた。
兼ねてから仲人寿光院よりの依頼により、それぞれめでたく祝い納めた。
若狭守経寛が前刻入来した。宗以・嘉蔵等へ経千初め一統が祝義の挨拶を了えて、御先に熨斗を出し、茶・たば粉・盆菓子等を常の如く各々座定めの後、三つ盃。吸物は蛤のすまし、向付は包み餅・田作り付けを紙敷きに二種、背巻き・鯣・糸和布で祝酒を出した。双方順盞めでたく了えて互いに申し談じ、改服略義で袴のみ着して更に酒を出した。肴物は左の如し:

Negotiations continued step by step, and today was the satogaeri (bride's return to her parents' home), with the groom's formal entry on the coming 28th day. Shui made his first visit, and it was also agreed that Kyoko would make her first visit to the Hoshino family within the 2nd or 3rd of next month.
27th day, Mizunoe-saru, clear. Former head priest Torii Oji Nobuhira-kyo received today the imperial decree for his restoration to head priest. ○ As it was the death anniversary of my real mother, I visited her grave as usual.
28th day, Mizunoto-tori, cloudy. Today being an auspicious day, Hoshino Shui, his younger brother Kazō, two accompanying servants, and Horikawa Jukōin came together after the hour of the Sheep. As celebratory gifts: 100 hiki in gold for sake, 200 hiki in gold for appetizers, one package of white hair cotton for mother, one box containing three women's folding fans for Yasuko, one box each containing five folding fans for Kyoki, Kyokan, and Kyokei, one box containing three small folding fans for Chiyozō, various other items, and for the samurai Kahei: one shu in gold and two folded half-papers, for the manservant Kameshirō: 300 mon in coins and two folded half-papers, the same for two maidservants, the same for the cook, etc. were presented.
As previously arranged through the go-between Jukōin, each celebration was auspiciously completed.
Wakasa-no-kami Kyokan arrived earlier. After Shui, Kazō and others completed their celebratory greetings with Kyosen and everyone, noshi (ceremonial gift ornaments) were first presented, followed by tea, tobacco powder, tray sweets, etc. as usual. After everyone was seated, the three-cup ceremony began. For soup: clear clam broth, for mukōzuke: wrapped rice cakes and tazukuri (candied sardines) arranged on paper in two varieties, sekimaki, dried squid, and kelp threads, with celebratory sake served. Both sides completed the ceremonial cup exchange auspiciously, then discussed matters mutually. Changing to informal dress wearing only hakama, sake was served again. The appetizers were as follows:
Soup: seasoned sea bream, sea bream fin, inkstone cover five varieties (shrimp, roasted seeds, rolled eggs, long yam, strawberry kelp)
Bowl appetizers: boiled sea bream, layered appetizers (flathead, young yellowtail, shiitake mushrooms), bowl appetizers: sea cucumber, grilled chicken
Raw fish salad (fresh arrangement: sea bream, red clam, three-flavor vinegar, daikon radish, rock seaweed) Soup: matsutake mushrooms
