二十六日庚丑晴れ。姨のさつが過日来病気で勝れない処、養生も叶わず、ただ今死去した旨、酉の半刻に告げて来た。その時年七十六、老病である。即刻香典として金百疋を遣わし、直ちに御籍帳・張放・注連・仮服の届書を会所・謹直方まで差し出した。届書は左の如し。

○両伝奏院伝奏、二十四日関東より御帰着。大宮御所御使以下、二十五日御帰京。御殿御使難波伊予守、昨二十六日帰着云々。
二十八日壬卯雨。午後、下久我村より上久我村へ移り止宿した。

26th day, Kanoe-ushi, clear. My aunt Satsu, who had been unwell for some days and whose condition had not improved, and whose recovery was not possible, has just passed away. This was announced at half past the Hour of the Rooster. She was seventy-six years old at the time—death from old age and illness. I immediately sent one hundred hiki of gold as incense money, and directly submitted notification documents regarding the family register, ceremonial decorations, sacred ropes, and mourning dress to the meeting office and Kinchoku-kata. The notification document was as follows:

The above person's aunt died on the 26th day of the 9th month of Tenpō 8. Therefore, I shall observe ten days of preliminary mourning and thirty days of mourning dress.

27th day, Kanoto-tora, clear. Due to personal circumstances involving illness at the palace, I submitted an apology for non-attendance. However, as this year is a period of deep mourning, from this morning the officials Sasaki, I, Ijichi and others proceeded to inspect the upper and lower Kuga villages. After arriving at lower Kuga, we conducted inspections all day, with all matters proceeding as usual.
○ Both Imperial Messengers returned from the east on the 24th. The Ōmiya Imperial Palace messengers and others returned to Kyoto on the 25th. The palace messenger Namba Iyo-no-kami returned yesterday on the 26th, and so forth.
28th day, Mizunoe-u, rain. In the afternoon, moved from lower Kuga village to upper Kuga village and lodged there.
29th day, Mizunoto-tatsu, clear. Completed all-day inspection at upper Kuga village.
10th month, major
1st day, Kinoe-mi, clear. From Kuga village around the Hour of the Monkey, returned to the palace. After recording arrival at the rear gate, returned home around the early part of the Hour of the Monkey.
5th day, Tsuchinoe-tori, clear. The 34th meeting of the procurement association was held as usual at Okudaya. I was on duty.
7th day, Kanoe-i, clear. From the east, ceremonial messenger Matsudaira for the celebration of Lord Ieyoshi's appointment as shōgun
