The Shōgen (Inspector) departed with the intention of accompanying the pilgrimage to the shrine. Regarding this, I attended the palace early in the morning, had my first audience with both御所 (Imperial residences), was commanded for the first time, and received five fans as farewell gifts. ○The warehouse roof thatching was completed today, requiring a total of seven workers. However, some roof tiles are still needed.
23rd Day, Mizunoe-Uma: Clear. This was the extraordinary festival at Shimizu Hachiman Shrine. The Young Palace nobles made their pilgrimage. They departed at exactly the hour of the Rabbit (6 AM) and returned at half past the hour of the Snake (10:30 AM). Kyōki participated in the imperial retinue. ○Today was the third shift for the warehouse. Yesterday the platform wheel corners, etc. were repaired and set in place. ○At noon, a fire broke out at a lumber shop in front of Yanagihara Sakaki Shrine. Due to southwest winds, it burned from Kami-Goryō Shrine to Inari Shrine in the east, and from Kurama-guchi Street Muromachi 9 about one block east in the north, finally being extinguished after about half past the hour of the Sheep (2:30 PM). This was a major fire in recent years for the Kamigyō area.
25th Day, Kinoe-Saru: Clear. An imperial edict message determining the dates for the formal reconstruction ceremonies of six shrines from Shingu down to the clan deity shrines was issued, and today it was delivered at the country residence of Imperial Messenger Shimizudani Chūnagon. Accordingly, one negi (senior priest) or hafuri (priest) from each of the six shrines came early in the morning, each wearing hunting dress. The Imperial Messenger wore court dress for the delivery. ○Kyōkaku made a pilgrimage to the Inner and Outer Shrines of Ise Province today. For this occasion, sacred sake and first fruits offerings were dedicated from his residence.
27th Day, Hinoe-Inu: Clear. Regarding tomorrow the 28th, there was notification to Kyōki that those who had applied for court ranks before the festival should appear at the lodging house at the hour of the Monkey (3 PM) for the imperial edict announcement. Four court officials and twenty-one ranked individuals were mentioned.
28th Day, Hinoto-I: Clear. Kyōkan returned from Ise Province without incident last night at the hour of the Dog (8 PM) and stayed one night at the palace. However, due to the fire in Kamigyō on the 23rd, his companion Sasaki Shōgen was dispatched, and from their lodging in Kushida, Ise Province, the night before last they did not stay at Sakashita but crossed Suzuka Pass through the night to reach Kyoto. This was thoughtless behavior by young people. Nevertheless, they returned home without incident, which was most important. ○Today, regarding Kyōki's appointment to Junior Fifth Rank Upper Grade, around the hour of the Monkey he went from the palace to the lodging house at Hamaya Rokuhei's place in Nakayado. He wore formal hemp dress. However, he had reported to the shrine community when going to work this morning. After evening, he was summoned by Magistrate Bōjō-dono, and when the representatives and others all appeared, the imperial permission was announced just as everyone had requested. From there, Imperial Messenger Shimizudani-dono, both Imperial Messengers from the Regent Houses
