堺屋吉兵蔵より壱尺六寸斗之魚所望也神供之義

若御所御假服御着但し残御假二十三日也尤奥向ニ而ハ別

晦日乙酉晴れ 月次の老若出番で、必顕の代理を相談した。

朔日丙戌晴れ 御更祭が例年の通り行われた。
三日戊子晴れ 御家門の御近習坂本外記に不正の行状があったため、奉行所の御沙汰となり、今日称号を御取り上げとなり、永の御暇を下され、かつ御印物類すべて御取り上げとなった。
六日辛卯晴れ 相嘗会の御神事である。神供の鯉一匹が不足したため、堺屋吉兵蔵より一尺六寸ほどの魚を所望した。神供の義のため聞き届け、代わりに同魚の小さな大きさ三匹を差し越し、池へ放した。
○細川左京大夫殿が去月二十九日に御逝去した旨申し来たため、若御所が御仮服を御着用された。ただし残り御仮服は二十三日間である。もっとも奥向きでは別火である。○御家の和歌御会始が来る二十一日の御伺いで御治定のところ、右の御仮服中のため御延引となり、改めて来月四日に仰せ出された。○昨五日の庁飯順番を逞清方へ代勤相談した。

29th day, Kinoe-Saru, occasional light rain: The retainer brought by Nakashima Bikosuke, a relative of Fushida Kuroemon from Okazaki village, as a blue-ranked samurai, was approved for employment.

11th month (short month)
1st day, Hinoe-Inu, clear: The Renewal Festival was held as usual.
3rd day, Tsuchinoe-Ne, clear: Due to misconduct by Sakamoto Geki, a close attendant of the noble family, the matter was brought before the magistrate's office. Today his title was revoked, he was given permanent leave, and all his official seals and documents were confiscated.
6th day, Kanoto-U, clear: This was the Ainame-sai Shinto ritual. As there was a shortage of one carp for the divine offerings, I requested a fish of about 1 shaku 6 sun from Sakaiya Kichibei. Since this was for divine offerings, the request was approved, and instead three smaller fish of the same type were sent and released into the pond.
○Word came that Lord Hosokawa Sakyo-daibu passed away on the 29th of last month, so the Young Lord put on mourning clothes. However, the remaining mourning period is 23 days. In the inner quarters, separate fires are maintained. ○The poetry gathering of our house was scheduled for the 21st upon inquiry, but due to this mourning period it was postponed and newly announced for the 4th of next month. ○Yesterday on the 5th, I consulted with Teisei about substituting for the office meal rotation.
11th day, Kinoto-Saru, snow: I consulted with Teisei about substituting for the ten-day prayer duty rotation. ○After lunch, all senior and junior retainers went to the capital as representatives to announce gratitude for construction work.
○The Kasuga Festival of our noble house was held as usual, with Tango-no-suke Nagatomo serving as deputy for the entire Shinto ceremony. ○Tsunehiro was appointed for the first time to perform the deity welcoming ceremony for the Kasuga Festival at the Nijo house. ○At the palace, since the Young Lord is in mourning, the four-legged gate was opened during the Shinto ceremonies and guard posts were established.
