階下へ馬を付け再三問い合わせこれあり、得心なきにより四番の馬を柵に入れ、その時漸く出候えば出された。また七番左方先馬於顕代平顕二度抜け出で、右方追馬匡保代恭保手放れず入直、三度目持ちなり。○二条殿侍御用人藤木因幡介弁顕、先月以来思し召しの義これあり、退役仰せ付けられ出仕を止められると云々。然るところ右弁顕の末女琴四才、藤木越後守敏顕方へ養女として貰いこれあるところ、この度一件に付き御殿江相願い離縁に相成り、弁顕方へ帰されるの旨、今朝請多清算より申し達せらる。○敏顕経寛、競馬会に付き入来、夕飯出してこれを了えた。○経紀西中手より階下の使兼ね頼まれ、二番太鼓過ぎより右階下清嗣方へ行き向かう。もっとも麻上下新調なり。
十一日癸巳 晴れ 細川越中守殿御帰国御通行に付き御家門御立ち寄り、若御所御対面御盃御往来例の如し。大御所昨日より少々御違例に付き御対顔あらせられず。但し巳刻御入り、午前刻御退出なり。
十七日己亥 雨 経紀今日村田式部大丞方へ書道入門せしむ。これにより扇子料として白銀一朱、随身して送ってこれを了えた。
十九日辛丑 陰 亡父県主祥忌日なり。養母経千墓参例の如し。
二十二日甲辰 経紀貴船日参順番なり。逞清へ代り相頼んでこれを了えた。
二十七日己酉 晴れ 三頭人万顕汁参会なり。予・経紀・経啓相招かれ参ず。但し祝い酒として二升相送る。且つ経啓は語り合い相頼まれ、一昨日の触れ並びに昨日二十一度参出立等の配膳に行き向かう。

Eleventh day, Mizunoto-mi (癸巳), clear weather. For Lord Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami's return journey to his domain, the noble family made a courtesy stop, the young lord had an audience, and ceremonial sake was exchanged as usual. Since the Great Lord has been slightly indisposed since yesterday, no audience was held. However, he entered at the hour of the Snake and departed before the hour of the Horse.
Seventeenth day, Tsuchinoto-i (己亥), rain. Keiki today enrolled in calligraphy study under Murata Shikibu-no-daijō. Accordingly, one shu of silver was sent as a fan fee with an attendant.
Nineteenth day, Kanoto-ushi (辛丑), overcast. This was the memorial day for my late father, the county chief. Foster mother Keisen visited the grave as usual.
Twenty-second day, Kinoe-tatsu (甲辰). It was Keiki's turn for the scheduled visit to Kifune. I requested Teikiyo to go in his place.
Twenty-seventh day, Tsuchinoto-tori (己酉), clear weather. The three head officials Banken held a soup gathering. I, Keiki, and Keikei were invited to attend. However, two shō of celebratory sake was sent. Also, Keikei was requested to discuss matters, and went to handle the meal arrangements for the day before yesterday's announcement and yesterday's twenty-first departure, etc.
Twenty-eighth day, Kanoe-inu (庚戌), clear weather. Complete Records of the Grand Historian, fifty volumes, white cover, Yao edition. For the price of two ryō and one bu, I had it purchased from a book dealer.
