[They] had previously discussed internally with Jibei and Yahei about wanting to receive [this arrangement] while still young. However, since there were many financial difficulties at the time, after cultivating connections with the domain residence, such arrangements were made first.
5th Day, Kinoe-Uma: Clear. It was the first Horse Day [of the month]. For the palace procurement meeting, the fifth session as usual, [I] went on duty to Mihongi Okudaya and returned home at the Hour of the Dog. Since yesterday the 4th, Tamabei has been working as a laborer in the hut for transporting Katsura foundation stones.
6th Day, Kinoto-Hitsuji: Clear. [I] ordered the storehouse foundation work at an auspicious hour during the Hour of the Snake. [I] provided sake to the carpenter assistants. Also, from today [I] summoned stone mason Uemon from Shirakawa and ordered him to repair the Katsura [foundation stones]. Today also supervised the transport of Katsura stones, about 1,000 kan [in weight].
7th Day, Hinoe-Saru: Clear. It was the Kasuga Shrine festival. The noble house's sacred rites proceeded as usual. The accounting for the palace procurement meeting was completed as usual. The storehouse day laborers prepared the earth, and three stone masons came to repair and straighten the Katsura stones, same as yesterday.
8th Day, Hinoto-Tori: Clear. The storehouse day laborers and stone masons [worked] the same as yesterday. Regarding Seo Jibei's famous lidded antique Shigaraki water jar, Hate-no-yaki, and Akino [ceramics] that had been put up as collateral, this time [he] wanted to retrieve them and transfer them to a certain person at Rōsai's place, seeking financing with additional money. Through Seo Yahei's administrator Kyōsuke, [I] was asked to arrange for 150 ryō of gold to be repaid by the 24th of this month. [I] finally managed to arrange it all today and delivered it. The negotiations with the creditors were handled by sending Gonsaemon from the palace.
9th Day, Tsuchinoe-Inu: Clear. The storehouse stone masons [worked] the same as yesterday. For the plasterer magistrate's duty, although tomorrow the 10th was [his] turn, Tomonao substituted and performed the duty today.
10th Day, Tsuchinoto-I: Clear. The storehouse ground purification ceremony was held at the Hour of the Snake. [I] had previously asked Master Kyōi to handle everything according to precedent: four bamboo poles with leaves, one pillar rope, five-colored small paper streamers, five pieces of dried offerings, sacred sake, washed rice each in five earthenware vessels, large and small desks, one round mat, etc. The remaining five grains and purification implements were all prepared by Kyōi. Tomorrow the 11th, for Namba Iyonokami's departure as envoy to the Kantō, [I] went to offer congratulations and sent two pairs of tabi. Also, travel money...
