The arrangement regarding Hiroyoshi's succession involved bringing funds and subsequent exchange money, with debt settlement handled by contributing a total of 900 ryo in gold from Urano to the palace, which would then be transferred from the palace to the Shingu family. However, the successor Kotaro was actually the son of Urano's brother, a certain Yamamoto.
Fourteenth day, Mizunoto-i, clear with occasional light snow. For Seo Jibei's domain debts both old and new in the home province, Kyoto, Edo, and the three ports of Osaka, 20,000 ryo in gold each was to be distributed from this year of the monkey onward, allocated proportionally according to their respective amounts through dividend certificates, as was announced recently. Jibei's portion amounts to approximately seven kanme in silver. This family has recently been struggling with large debts, so this arrangement is most fortunate. Regarding interest-free terms, further announcements will be made in due course.
Sixteenth day, Kinoto-ushi, clear. The family endorsement documents for Horikawa Omi-no-kami's adoption petition were circulated among the magistrates, and after consultations with Betto Hobo-dono and others were completed, the petition was submitted to the monthly duty courtier today.
Seventeenth day, Hinoe-tora, clear. Horikawa's adoption succession petition was approved as requested. All ceremonial duties were performed by proxy through Shimohashi Yamato-no-suke and his son.
Eighteenth day, Hinoto-u, cloudy with thunder. A small folded paper regarding Horikawa's adoptive son Hiromi's first court rank was submitted to the administrative office after Betto-dono's review.
Nineteenth day, Tsuchinoe-tatsu, clear. As thanks for the completion of Horikawa's adoption, one tray each of mixed delicacies was presented to both imperial residences. ○ Today marked the end of the annual court rank announcements as usual. Proclamations for Kamo Shrine personnel proceeded as customary. ○ The initial court rank proclamation for Horikawa Saemon-no-shi took place.
Twenty-first day, Kanoe-uma, clear. As thanks for Horikawa Saemon-no-shi's initial court rank, white-steamed fresh sea bream in one tray, presentation boxes, and prepared dishes were offered according to precedent. Fresh sea bream, one tray each, was presented to the offices of the Great Minister of State, the Young Imperial Residence, and the Princess, among others. For court officials and samurai, white-steamed fish was distributed at their gate fronts. White-steamed fish with sake and side dishes was sent to all court ladies, from senior ladies-in-waiting to lower-ranking attendants and below. However, for Kesen, Keiki and others, divided payment of three shu each for side dish expenses was given. Additionally, 100 hiki in gold was sent to Kesen as entertainment expenses.
