今日奉行所より見届役人が入来したとのこと。右の変事につき即刻向かったが、何かと世話をするところ、弥兵衛死去以来同家も穢れのため、本意ではないが心に存ぜず、その義の残念さは無限であるとのこと。○施薬院の年礼が入来し、同家役人前川八郎右衛門が隠居し、息子の前川又蔵と村岡秀次郎両人へ明日表向きに申し付ける旨を吹聴した。
二十五日辛丑雨 瀬尾故次兵衛について昨日武辺見届けが相済み、なお今朝御役より伺いの義について両奉行所共に滞りなく勝手次第に取り片付けて良い旨を申し渡され、今晩密葬を執行する旨の仮届けが来たので、穢れ中のため後日香典金百疋を送った。手代小兵衛より詳細な手紙が到来した。表向きの葬礼の義はまだ決定していないとのこと。
二十六日壬寅晴れ 御神楽を御頭が御別荘へなされ、経紀が御供に参った。
二十九日丙午雨 浄衣くじの毎手附を経紀が代勤した。
晦日丁未曇り 浄衣くじ御料拵えを経紀が代勤し、昨日の如くであった。○注連張差辞は例年の如くであった。

Today an inspection official from the magistrate's office came. Regarding this incident, [we] immediately went there, but while handling various matters, since Yahei's death the household has been in ritual impurity, so though unwilling and not intending it, the regret over this matter is limitless. ○ The Seyakuin's New Year courtesy visit came, and it was announced that household official Maekawa Hachirōemon would retire, and his son Maekawa Matzō and Muraoka Hidejirō would both be formally appointed tomorrow.
25th day, 辛丑, Rain - Regarding the late Seo Jibei, the military inspection was completed yesterday, and this morning regarding the inquiry from the officials, both magistrate offices said there were no problems and [we] could handle it at [our] discretion. A provisional notice came that a secret burial would be conducted tonight, so due to the ritual impurity, incense money of 100 hiki was sent later. A detailed letter arrived from clerk Kohei. The formal funeral arrangements have not yet been decided.
26th day, 壬寅, Clear - The head priest performed sacred music at his villa, and Kyōki accompanied him.
29th day, 丙午, Rain - Kyōki served as substitute for the ritual robe lottery duties.
Last day, 丁未, Cloudy - Kyōki served as substitute for preparing the ritual robe lottery offerings, same as yesterday. ○ The sacred rope installation ceremony was as in previous years.

1st day, 戊申, Clear - Kibune Shrine's renewal festival was as usual.
3rd day, 庚戌, Overcast then rain - Regarding the direct meeting for ritual robe lottery restoration, since the shrine association is practicing frugality, the offerings were handled piece by piece, differing from the monthly officials' [usual practice]. ○ For Lord Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami's passage, the reception, audience, and gifts were as in previous years. ○ Due to the death of Rōjū Lord Ōkubo Kaga-no-kami, there was an order to stop musical performances from yesterday the 2nd until tomorrow the 4th, but construction work was permitted.
5th day, 壬子, Clear - The afternoon horse racing and leg inspection was as in previous years.
