現代語訳
神輿入道は箱根の先へ引っ越したが、まず宿なしでも詰まる前にと、あちこちと店を見立てて歩いていると、伊豆の山奥に倒れかかった粗末な小屋があり、貸し店と書いてあるのを幸い、大家様に「この先の洞穴に住む熊の化け物」と聞き尋ねて行って言い入れると、大家様が言うには「この店は十年ばかり前まで早く貸しましたが、今は家も古くなり、倒れかかって壁は落ち、床は腐って草が生える位でございますから、化け物住まいにはいい分のない店でございます。から、ちと高くございます。伊豆、相模のうちでもここらは場所柄でございますから、格別店も汚らしゅうございます」と言う。
