振り返って見直してみると、以前より美しくなっているということもあるのだろうか。しかし、几帳面で真面目な性格のために、不思議で理解できないこともあるのを見てみたいものだと思われるけれど、はっきりと目立つように行動なさるのも照れくさい。くつろいでいる夜更かしの頃に、そっと邸内にお入りになって、格子の隙間から御覧になった。そうはいっても、はっきりと見えるはずもない。几帳なども大変傷んでいるものの、長年の間、置かれた場所は変わらず、几帳を押しやったりなどして乱れていないので、なんとなく整然としていて、女房たち四、五人が座っていた。御台
