にいてゝいとさむしと見えつる御おもかけ

将にこれをみせたらんときいかなる事をよ

現代語訳
を持っている。老人が門をうまく開けられないので、（光源氏の従者が）寄って手伝って開けてくれる。とても頑固な様子である。御供の人が寄ってそれを開けた。
「降り積もった頭の雪を見る人も、劣らず濡らす麻の袖かな」
若い女性は姿を隠そうとして、（歌を）口ずさんでいらっしゃって、（雪の）白さに映えて、とても寒そうに見えていた御面影を、ふと思い出されて、ほほえまれなさる。頭中将にこれを見せたならば、どのような事を付け加えて言うだろうか。いつも（女性のことを）からかって暮れるので、今見つけられてしまった
英語訳
was holding it. Since the old man could not manage to open the gate properly, (Genji's attendant) approached and helped him open it. He appeared quite stubborn. The attendant approached and opened it.
