「教師もそのようなはずはない」と言っても甲斐がないと思われ、心を尽くして詠み出しなさったであろうその様子を思うと、とても立派なことだとは、これを言うべきだったのだろうと微笑んでご覧になるのを、命婦は顔を赤らめて拝見する。今様色の上品さに欠け、艶もなく古めかしい直衣の裏地と表地が同じ色で地味な、とても平凡で、端々までそのように見える様子を興ざめだと思われるが、この手紙を広げながら端の方で手習いをなさるのを、斜めから見ると
