【四丁裏】
猿は憎き蟹を打ち殺したのを残念に思い、雌猿の耳飾りを連れて来た。「夫の蟹吉がありかを言え」と責められば、花咲爺さんの一つ癖で、慈悲深いゆえ「責めてはならぬ」と言って、西明寺殿より貰った松板を取り出し、針金を張り、琴にして責める。これが拷問の始めなり。
「これは大変、逃げずにまっすぐに逃げよう」
なるほどお猿は深い考えという。そうでないと明日は天気で
夫の蟹吉がありかを言え
【五丁表】
そのとき猿は「わが夫蟹吉こそ、それがしの親猿を糠味噌桶をはじめとし、包丁、挽き臼、卵鉢、世帯道具を持って打った事、東西東西」と言ったので、雌猿は泣く泣く声を張り上げ、その声自慢にてそのときの世帯道具の数々は包丁、古い小桶に櫓を並べしその奥で破れた戸板の穴を立て板と答えた。
「なんとこれは少し酷うございます」

The monkey, regretting having killed the hateful crab, brought along a female monkey's earring. When pressed to "tell where her husband Crab Kichi is," the flower-blooming old man, due to his one peculiarity and compassionate nature, said "do not torture her," and took out a pine board he had received from Lord Saimyo-ji, strung it with wire, and made it into a koto to interrogate her. This was the beginning of the torture.

At that time, the monkey said, "My husband Crab Kichi killed my parent monkey using household items starting with a rice-bran paste tub, kitchen knife, grinding mortar, egg bowl, and other household utensils, hear ye, hear ye!" So the female monkey, crying and raising her voice, boasting of that voice, said that the household items from that time - the kitchen knife, old small tub with a turret arranged in the back where broken door boards had holes - were used as standing boards.
