一、単語は、その初出の箇所にのみ示し、その他は全て省略する。音や意味が異なるもの、並びに熟語・成語等については、既に掲載した文字であっても、重ねて挙げるものがある。
一、第四巻より、生徒の理解しやすい例え話、または古人の美談・教訓等を掲載して、それによって次第に中等科に入るべき基礎を築く。
