八月／伊豆國（いつのくに）石橋山（いしはしやま）敗軍（はいくん）の後（のち）安房國（あはのくに）へ渡海（とかい）の時（とき）本尊（ほんそん）の
霊尓（れいし）によりて風浪（ふうらう）の難（なん）を逃（のか）れ給ひ其後（そののち）竟（つひ）に天下一統（てんかいつとう）なし
給ひしかは文治年間（ふんちねんかん）此地（このち）に宮社（きうしや）造営（さうえい）ありて神領等（しんりやうとう）を寄（よせ）

八月、伊豆国石橋山で敗軍の後、安房国へ渡海の時、本尊の霊験によって風浪の難を逃れなさり、その後ついに天下統一をなしとげられたので、文治年間にこの地に宮社を造営して神領等を寄進されたという。遥か後の世、太田道灌がこの地にいて、最も厚く尊信していたという。
袖ヶ浦 この地の光景は、長い海岸と曲がりくねった浦が、まさに袖の形に似ているゆえにこの名がついた。烏丸大納言光広卿が関東下向の頃、帰路に再びこの地に立ち寄りなさって和歌を詠まれた《割書：その時自ら筆を染めて詠まれた草稿は、この地の江戸屋某の家に秘蔵されている》
こたび袖の浦に泊まりて
思いきや袖の浦波立ち返りここに旅宿を重ねるべしとは 光広
《割書：按ずるに、黄葉集では初句五文字を「あつまちの」と改め、結句の「とは」を「とや」としている。黄葉集はおそらく伝写の誤りであろう》

In the eighth month, after the defeat at Ishibashiyama in Izu Province, when crossing over to Awa Province, [Yoritomo] escaped the peril of wind and waves through the divine power of the principal deity, and later finally achieved the unification of the realm. Therefore, during the Bunji era (1185-1190), a shrine was constructed at this location and sacred lands were donated to it. Much later, when Ōta Dōkan was at this location, he showed the deepest reverence and faith.
Sode-ga-ura (Sleeve Bay) - The scenery of this place, with its long shores and winding inlets, resembles the shape of a sleeve, hence the name. When Karasumaru Dainagon Mitsuhiro traveled down to the Kantō region, on his return journey he stopped at this place again and composed a waka poem《Note: The draft he personally wrote at that time is secretly preserved in the house of a certain Edoya family of this area》
"Staying at Sode-no-ura this time"
Who would have thought that the waves of Sode-no-ura would return, and I would lodge here again on my journey - Mitsuhiro
《Note: According to examination, in the Kōyō-shū collection, the first five characters are changed to "Azumachi no" and the final "to wa" is changed to "to ya." The Kōyō-shū version is probably a copying error》
