**A Formula for Metal Lacquer (*Kana-urushi*)**
- To repair cracked and leaking pots, cauldrons, and other metal vessels, use the following:
Iron file shavings (*yasuriko no kezuri-kuzu*)
Heated soapstone (*onjaku*)
Light lacquer (*kō-urushi*)
Knead these together thoroughly with water and press the mixture into the crack. For large holes, use a camellia leaf

---
**[Left Page — Lower Section]**
*(Continued)*
- For clothing as well, place the seeds of *seikō* (*Artemisia*) in the wardrobe (*tansu*). This is what is commonly called *kawarayo mogi* (riverside mugwort/wormwood). Furthermore, for leather quilts and the like, dry them in the sun, shade-dry the leaves of *kawajisa* (water lettuce / wild chicory), and place them between the layers of the quilt — insects will not eat through them.
