【Right Page, Upper Section】 A Method for Sending Live Yodo Carp as a Gift to Distant Provinces, Ensuring They Do Not Weaken Along the Way and Indeed Arrive with Superior Flavor - To send live Yodo carp to distant provinces, stuff a full measure of finest ground matcha tea into the mouth of the live carp, then wrap the carp repeatedly and thoroughly in paper dampened with water, 【Left Page, Upper Section】 place it in a box, and dispatch it with care to avoid jostling as much as possible along the journey. It will keep well for about ten days of travel. Upon arrival, fill a tub (or basin) with water and release the carp into it — the carp will still be alive. Moreover, this carp will taste exceptionally finer than an ordinary carp. --- 【Right Page, Lower Section】 - Regardless of the size of a wound, judge the appropriate moment to stop the bleeding and pour warmed sake over it. The blood will stop agreeably. Even in the case of an injury sustained in a fight, it will cause no harm to subsequent medical treatment. If other blood-stopping medicines are applied and then blood is halted in that way, they must be scraped off during treatment, which is therefore unfavorable. Excellent Medicine for the Pustules of Smallpox (*Hōsō*) - No matter how deep the cavity of a smallpox pustule may be, drop in the white of a chicken's egg. This is a remarkable medicine that will cure every single one of a hundred patients. A Fine Formula for the Growth Called "Fish-Eye" (*Uonome* / Corn) - This is neither a wart nor a common growth; it is what is called a *uonome* (corn / plantar callus), and if left alone it grows progressively larger. Chew glutinous rice (*mochigome*) and apply it to the affected area. Applied twice, it will invariably heal. Medicine for Removing Warts (*Ibo*) and Moles (*Hokuro*) - Mix ash and lime in equal parts, knead together with water, and into the mixture plant twenty grains of glutinous rice upright. Leave in a warm place. After a day or two, take it out and examine it — the glutinous rice will have turned to a mercury-like substance. Take this and apply it to the wart. With just one application, the wart will fall off. For moles, apply it carefully and repeatedly. (Note: Take care that it does not touch the surrounding skin.)
