...observe, and then create twenty more meshes.
〔Two diagrams present〕
The way to create the meshes is as shown here: hook into the gaps between the previous meshes and add one mesh in this manner,
【Left folio, upper section】
thus increasing the count by one. From there, distribute every fifth mesh evenly in the proper proportion.

**Secret Tradition for Bone-Setting (接骨, *Hone-tsugi*)**
Take a living crucian carp (*funa*) and fillet it into three pieces while still alive. Do not discard the entrails outside—cast them into the sea or a river. Next, take rice plants from a green, growing paddy field, and dry them beforehand in the shade. Even during the day, keep them in a shaded spot away from direct sunlight...

**Method for Subduing a Dog That Is Barking and About to Bite**
With the left hand, form the sign for "Tora" (Tiger), eliminate "Tei" (the cyclical sign), and grasp "Inu" (Dog) (i.e., form specific hand gestures corresponding to these signs). Recite: "Cloud-dragon (*Unryō*), Wind-tiger (*Fūko*)—subdue this fierce beast!" If one does so, the dog will stop barking and flee.

**A Talisman to Ward Off All Manner of Strange Phenomena (百怪)**
If any kind of unexpected or mysterious occurrence takes place in one's home, write this talisman (*fu*) on paper using vermilion ink and affix it to the location of the disturbance. Additionally, men should place this talisman inside their left sleeve, and women inside their right sleeve.
〔Diagram present〕
Strange occurrences caused by foxes, tanuki, and similar creatures will cease,
〔Diagram present〕
and one will not be deceived or bewitched.

**A Wondrous Incantation for Ringworm (癬, *Tamushi*)**
【Left folio, lower section】
Grind good-quality ink to a thick consistency, trace a round border around the ringworm, and write the character 南 (*minami*, "south") three times within the circle. The cure is remarkably effective. If only half the characters are written, only half the ringworm will heal. Should anyone claim the cure was not due to this incantation, write the character 北 (*kita*, "north") three times, and the ringworm will flare up again.

**Incantation for a Bone Lodged in the Throat**
Face the person who has the bone stuck in their throat. Partially draw a *wakizashi* (short sword) from its scabbard, then draw the small utility knife (*kozuka*) from its sheath on the scabbard. Turn this small knife face-down and insert it into the *wakizashi* scabbard. Knock on the head of the hilt, then fully sheathe the partially drawn *wakizashi*. The bone will immediately (dislodge)...
