**[Right Page]**
Within the precincts of Senso-ji temple, the bargeboard (hafu) on the western side of the Kannon Hall was severely damaged, and the nine-ringed finial (kurin) atop the five-story pagoda was bent out of shape. The Arasawa Hall, the Oku-Inari shrine, the Nishi-no-Miya Inari shrine, the Nichion-in, the Daijingū, the Konpira shrine, the Matsuo Shrine, the Rōjo Benten, and all other structures within the precincts were entirely destroyed without exception.
The thunder deity statue at the Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate) tumbled and fell. The open-air stone Buddha (Nure-botoke) also toppled over, and the collapse of the monks' quarters within the precincts was severe. The sacred image of Kannon Bodhisattva was reverently transferred to the Hanayashiki pleasure garden in the Okuyama area. As for the fires that broke out from Tamachi and Shōden Yokochō, they were halted at Umamichi road and did not spread into the temple precincts at all.

The temples in the Kitatani and Nakatani areas were not only completely collapsed but were also consumed by fire. The Minamitani area sustained extensive structural damage, though it was spared from fire.
Throughout much of the 10th month, great numbers of people could be found sleeping outdoors in the Okuyama area. Furthermore, Saruwaka-machi suffered little damage beyond its storehouses, likely because its buildings were newly constructed — making it all the more lamentable that it was caught in the spreading fires.
