つゞき【▢囲み】わらは大地（だいち）の敷物（しきもの）あるひは草履（ざうり）と造（つく）れる
去（さり）ながら同じ民人（のうみん）の手に育（そたて）られ同じ田（た）に
生（おひ）たちて高下（かうげ）かくのごとし
兄弟（けいてい）は骨肉（こつにく）同胞（どうばう）とて一体（いつたい）
分身（ふんしん）なりといへども手習（てならひ）せず
文字（もんじ）を知らず人の道（みち）を弁（わきま）へざれば兄（あに）は弟（おとゝ）に
及（およ）ばず人／弟（おとゝ）を尊（たつと）みて終（つい）に家名（かめい）を弟にゆずる

【右丁】
続き【▢囲み】藁は大地の敷物、あるいは草履として作られる。
しかしながら同じ農民の手に育てられ、同じ田に
生い立って、このような高低の差がある。
兄弟は骨肉同胞といって一体
分身であるといっても、手習いをせず
文字を知らず、人の道を弁えなければ、兄は弟に
及ばず、弟を尊んで終には家名を弟に譲る。
同じ父母にして、前に言う藁のようではないか。

Continued【boxed】Straw is made into ground coverings or sandals.
However, though raised by the same farmers' hands and grown in the same fields,
there is such a difference in rank.
Brothers are said to be flesh and blood, fellow beings of one body
and one essence, yet if they do not practice calligraphy,
do not know letters, and do not understand the way of humanity, the elder brother falls short of the younger brother,
and comes to honor the younger brother, eventually yielding the family name to him.
Born of the same father and mother, are they not like the straw mentioned before?
