現代語訳
【右丁 上段】
これより下の四人は皆、秋好中宮の女房である。紫の上の御方の花見に招かれて舟に乗せられ、池を巡って詠んだ歌どもである。歌の意味は、風が吹くと花のように波が立ち、その波さえも水面に映った影によって、本当の山吹の色に見える。これこそ名高い山吹の崎なのだろうか、ということである。山吹の崎は近江国の地名だと言われている。

【左丁 上段】
これもこの場所を褒めて詠んだものである。歌の意味は、この春の御前の池の水は、井手の川瀬に通じているのだろうか。岸の山吹が影を映して水底までも美しく色づいている様子は、何とも言い表せないほど美しい、ということである。井手は山城国の山吹の名所である。

The four people below are all court ladies serving Akikonomu Empress. These are poems composed when they were invited to Princess Murasaki's flower viewing, put on boats, and sailed around the pond. The meaning of the poem is: When the wind blows, waves rise like flowers, and even those waves, through their reflected image, appear in the true color of mountain roses (yamabuki). Could this be the famous Yamabuki Point? Yamabuki Point is said to be a place name in Ōmi Province.

This too is composed in praise of this place. The meaning is: Does the pond water of this spring garden connect to the river rapids of Ide? The mountain roses on the shore cast their reflection, and their beauty reaches even to the bottom of the water—the scene is indescribably beautiful. Ide is a famous place for mountain roses in Yamashiro Province.
