勝（かち）なるによりて則（すなはち）池（いけ）の右（みぎ）
のかたに落（おつ）る花（はな）よたとへ水（みづ）
の沫（あわ）と成（なり）てもやはり我方（わがかた）

現代語訳
【右丁 上段】
同じ場所の女房で、これは同じ時の勝ち方の味方である。歌の心は、桜も心があって、この度右方の勝ちになることによって、すなわち池の右の方に落ちる花よ、たとえ水の泡となってもやはり我が方に流れ寄るべきだ、ということである。花に物を言いつけるように言って、負け方に悔しがらせるのである。「汀」に「右」を掛けている。

【左丁 上段】
同じく右方について味方をした女童である。庭に散った花を拾ってきて詠んだ歌である。歌の心は、空吹く風に花が散ったけれども、その散った花もすなわち我が方のものなので、このようにかき集めてもてはやし見るのだ、ということである。

【Right Page, Upper Section】
This is a lady-in-waiting from the same place who was a supporter of the winning side during the same match. The heart of the poem is that the cherry blossoms also have feelings, and because the right side won this time, she says to the flowers falling on the right side of the pond: "Even if you become foam on the water, you should still flow toward our side." She speaks as if giving instructions to the flowers, making the losing side feel envious. There is a wordplay between "migiwа" (water's edge) and "migi" (right).

This is a young girl who likewise supported the right side as an ally. This is a poem she composed after gathering flowers that had scattered in the garden. The heart of the poem is that although the flowers scattered in the wind blowing through the sky, since those scattered flowers also belong to our side, she gathers them up like this and admires them with celebration.
