患者は必然的に多くなり、その原因はこれらの要因から出ないものはない。
およそ悲しみ・憂い・驚き・恐怖があれば、神経が痙攣して運営の適切さを失い、身体を酷使することがあれば、筋骨運転の機能を損ない、飲食が適切でなければ、胃の消化が自然に衰えて血液が供給されず、不眠があれば、血が頭脳に昇り、房事が過度であれば、精液が亡失するなどの弊害があるため、結局この患いを発症しないことはできない。
また多くの人が集団で居住するときは、気中の活精（シュールストフ、酸素から分離して命名）なるものが、多くの人の呼吸によって消耗する。故にその気を呼吸する者たちは、その血が皆活精を失い、頭痛・倦怠・懊悩を覚えるに至る。これゆえに西洋の書物では、この疫病は軍陣・洋船のような、多くの人が集団居住して神経と身体を損傷し、不適切な飲食をする間に流行しやすいと言っている。
私（碩）が考察するに、劇場・格闘場に集まる人々が、病気に至らずとも往々にして疲労・頭痛を覚えることからして、その事実を証明できる。また『三国志』に「曹操の軍衆にすでに疾疫があった」とあるのは、これは水土に慣れずして多くの人が集団居住することの招く結果である。

In my (Seki's) observation, people gathering in theaters and wrestling venues often experience fatigue and headaches even without becoming ill, which can prove this fact. Also, in the Records of the Three Kingdoms, it states that "Cao Cao's army already had epidemic disease," which resulted from many people living together in groups without being accustomed to the local water and soil.
