第六章 回復後の気力回復の困難
邪熱が盛んな者は回復後に一ヶ月を経ても起き上がることができない者があり、あるいは三ヶ月を経ても気力が回復し難い者がある。邪気の猖獗が人を毒することはこのようである。
回復後に健忘症と身熱があり、半年を越えても退かない者がある。これは当時その身熱が焼けるようであった時に、目前の快適さを計り、水をかけて熱を強制的に冷ました者に、後になってよくこの弊害がある。これを知らないではいけない。
気力が常に回復し難い者は、邪気が神経を萎弱させることによる。水をかけて熱を冷ました人で、健忘の患いを残す者は、熱が冷水によって強制的に抑えられて、邪毒が醸熟分利することができないことによる。ある人が問う「醸熟分利とは何か」。答えて曰く「元運自然の良能なる者が、熱を発し血液を煮て、凝膠（コルスト）【注：ゴール徳児より出る】のような膿のような物を製造し、邪毒を包み込んで発汗・利尿・喀痰などによって、外に排出することを言う」。碩が長崎にいた時、打橋某の女が重症にかかったのを幸いにも救うことができたが、健忘症は一年余りも治らなかった。水をかける処置はしなかったが、思うに病毒の化熟の功を遂げなかったのであろう。

Chapter 6: Difficulty in Recovering Strength After Recovery
Those with severe pathogenic heat may be unable to rise for a month after recovery, or may have difficulty recovering their strength even after three months. The rampant pathogenic qi poisons people to this extent.
After recovery, some have amnesia and body heat that does not subside for more than half a year. When their body heat was like burning at the time, those who sought immediate relief by dousing with water to forcibly cool the heat often suffer from this problem later. This must be understood.
Those whose strength is consistently difficult to recover suffer because pathogenic qi weakens the nerves. People who cooled their heat with water and retain amnesia suffer because the heat was forcibly suppressed by cold water, preventing the pathogenic toxin from undergoing proper maturation and elimination. Someone asks, "What is maturation and elimination?" The answer: "It refers to the natural good function of original circulation, which generates heat and boils blood fluid to produce coagulated substances (corst) [Note: derived from Gordon] like pus, which encapsulates pathogenic toxin and expels it externally through sweating, urination, expectoration, and so forth." When Seki was in Nagasaki, he was fortunately able to save the daughter of one Uchihashi who had contracted a severe illness, but her amnesia did not heal for over a year. Though no water dousing treatment was administered, it was likely that the pathogenic toxin failed to achieve proper maturation.
